If you suffer from vertigo or have difficulty controlling your fear of heights we recommend taking a different route. While Machu Picchu mountain also offers breathtaking views its trails are much less steep, its paths are much less steep and are also wider.   • Day 1 Arrival To Cusco

      • Upon your arrival at the airport in Cusco, we will be there to greet you and take you to the hotel where you’ll be staying during your visit. 
      • This day will be reserved for resting and acclimatizing to the altitude, approximately 3400 meters (11,000 feet).

  • Day 2 Sacred Valley (Chinchero – Moray – Salt Mines)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Sacred Valley (Chinchero – Moray – Salt Mines)

      • This day we will begin our adventure up to the high plains, stopping first at Chinchero, an important ancient site for the Inca, known as the birthplace of the rainbow. 
      • We will visit the main site with its picturesque colonial church located upon the ancient archaeological site and continue to a local textile center where we will learn about the ancient science of weaving from the very artisans themselves and how they bring to magic these wonderful pieces of art dyed with minerals, plants, and seeds. 
      • Continuing through the rolling hills we will visit the enigmatic circular terraces of Moray where we will learn about how these constructions served as an experimental agricultural center to selectively cultivate the best breeds of Andean staple crops at different temperatures. 
      • Near Moray, we will stop at the town of Maras to then visit the ancient salt mines, used for thousands of years by local families to supply salt not only to the Incas but still to this day offering us an example of the natural art of salt harvesting straight from the land. In the afternoon, we will travel to Ollantaytambo and board our train to Aguas Calientes for our visit to Machu Picchu.

  • Day 3 Machu Picchu
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      • Today we will wake early to have breakfast and board the bus up to Machu Picchu. If we are lucky, receive the first rays of the sun as dawn breaks and lights up this magical mountain. Your guide will be with you at every moment to inform you about the site and answer any questions. 
      • The guided tour through the Sanctuary will last roughly 2 to 3 hours. Later we will begin our return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and take our train to return to Ollantaytambo and finally by car to Cusco.

  • Day 4 Rainbow Mountain
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Rainbow Mountain

      • You will need to wake up early to enjoy this natural marvel at its best. Between 4:00 am and 5:00 am, we’ll pick you up directly from your hotel to start our ride to the south of Cusco through beautiful landscapes of valleys and agricultural communities. 
      • First, we will drive for around 2 hours to the town of Cusipata (3,329m / 12,772 ft.). After breakfast in Chillihuani, we will continue our trip by van, following a beautiful way between the mountains, accompanied by our first views of Ausangate, the highest peak of Cusco. 
      • Along the way, we will pass through herds of hundreds of alpacas and llamas and the occasional shepherd or local people moving about their daily activities. Our ascent will begin in Phuluwasipata and last about 2 hours, bringing us to our final destination and the highest point on our Rainbow Mountain trek (or Vinicunca trek), at 5,020 mts / 16,470 ft. Here we will stop to admire and appreciate the outstanding views in all directions and the rare geological formations that appear to be painted with exotic colors by God’s hand. Far below and into the distance are infinite valleys and glaciers as far as one can see. 
      • We will stop for about 30 minutes – the perfect amount of time to rest, to have a snack, and immerse yourself in this wild environment before we must begin our descent, roughly an hour and a half hours towards the point where we started the day’s hike in Phuluwasipata, where our transport will be waiting to take us to restaurant in Chillihuani where we enjoy an energizing lunch. 
      • We will have time after lunch to visit some of the local households and observe the lifestyle and customs that are still being practiced today since Inca times. Here the native language of Quechua is spoken very well and agriculture is essential for life. 
      • *Lodging: Cuscoe day, our tour will conclude with an opportunity to meet with local people from the community before making our journey back to Cusco in our private van. We will leave you back at your hotel around 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m.

  • Day 5 Humantay Lake
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      • Early we will pick you up from your hotel to go to Mollepata, where we will have breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue to Soraypampa, our starting point for the walk. In the ascent, we will have the opportunity to observe the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit the area. 
      • We can observe some native birds of the area, as well as get great views of the Andean landscape. 
      • Once in the lagoon area, we can enjoy our snacks, and after that, we will be delighted with the spectacular views of the Humantay lagoon and its turquoise waters. In the afternoon after lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco.

  • Day 6 Departure To Puno (Route Of The Sun)

      • In the morning we will depart from the bus terminal and head towards Puno. 
      • This is a special journey by bus which allows us to visit the many diverse locations along the way on the route of the sun. 
      • There will we planned stops to visit the following: Andahuaylillas: (the Sistine Chapel of the Americas, this temple is one of the best examples of the fusion between Catholic and Andean religions) Raqchi: A Inka temple dedicated to the God Wiracocha, construction of monumental dimensions, an estimated 100 meters long, 26m wide, 14m high. 
      • This is the only known temple dedicated to the God Wiracocha, creator of the Universe. La Raya: Midway point on our journey and the highest point on the road – 4335 m.s.n.m. 
      • The impressive views here allow us to admire the rugged high altitude, full of tall peaks, many of which are snow-capped, and herds of llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. 
      • This is the geographic border between two cultures, the Quechua of Cusco and the Aymara of Puno. Pucara: This ceremonial center is one of the oldest and most important of the high plains, well known for its lithic structures and tombs.

  • Day 7 Uros (Floating Islands) – Taquile Island
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Uros (Floating Islands) – Taquile Island

      • We will pick you up early from your hotel and head to the port to begin our tour. 
      • This is a full-day tour on a boat trip through Titicaca lake. We will visit the ancient Uros culture and tread its floating islands. 
      • The islanders will give us a presentation on their lifestyle in these islands, which are artificial islands made by the hand of man, built with totora reeds that grow on the shores of the lake. 
      • We will learn about their existence in these small islands and how they have adapted to these conditions. Continuing along the lake we will reach the island of Amantani. Here we will meet with the Quechua families who will offer us a cozy stay-style house while they prepare traditional food for lunch. 
      • After lunch, we will ascend to the two summits of the island while we observe the daily routine of the inhabitants.
      • At the top of the island, we will visit two ancient pre-Inka temples, Pachatata and Pachamama (father and mother cosmos). 
      • In the evening, after dinner, the members of the community will hold a small welcome party for us.

  • Day 8 Taquile – Puno

      Taquile – Puno

      • After breakfast in Amantani, we will board a boat again for a short trip to the neighboring island of Taquile. Already on the island we will ascend the beautiful paved paths towards the community, a small and quiet town, not to mention very hardworking and knew, a culture full of art and tradition. 
      • The town of Taquiles is cheerful, proud of its origins and culture, happy to share with us the beautiful environment of life on the island in the immense Lake Titicaca.
      • Finally, we will return to the hotel at 05:00p.m approximately.
