Day 1: Lisbonโs city quarters
Stop At: Lisbon District, Lisbon District, Central Portugal
On your first day of this Wine & Dine luxury tour, you arrive at Lisbon airport. Your driver will be ready and waiting for you at the Arrivals hall. Look out for the sign with the TOURS FOR PORTUGAL logo! After meeting the driver/guide you will be transferred to your hotel to unpack and freshen up.
Depending on your flightโs arrival time and how you feel, we will visit one of Lisbonโs city quarters. So, put on your walking shoes and letโs stretch those legs and muscles after a long flight.
Lisbon is built on seven hills, so some of the inclines can be steep. A lot of the Lisbon streets have cobble stones, but alternatively, there`s plenty of foot friendly footpaths. Purely as a precaution comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
During this preliminary walk, we hope you get the Lisbon vibe and a feel for the city of Lisbon. Afterwards, we return to your hotel, then go for dinner at a quality restaurant.

Day 2: The Alentejo region, Serra da Arrรกbida.

After breakfast, we drive you south across the Tagus river to the edge of the Arrรกbida nature reserve in the Alentejo region. Here, we will be visiting a family of winemakers who have almost two centuries of experience behind them. The family has several quintas, each with its own ambiance and grape varieties. We will be visiting one of these vineyards and the associated wine museum. If you wish, we can organise an additional wine tasting.

After this visit, we pass the city of Setรบbal to reach a restaurant near the Estuรกrio do Sado (estuary of the river Sado) which is well-known for its delicacies of a region which combines the flavours of the Alentejo interior with the food of the river and the sea.

After lunch, we drive to a cloistered castle-hotel, a former convent, located on a hill which offers panoramic views of the Serra da Arrรกbida and its lowland vineyards.

Day 3: Wine tasting - Beja - รvora

After the unique experience of having breakfast in the cloisters of the former convent it is time to pack your suitcase again.
We drive further inland to visit a fantastic Herdade (country estate) located among captivating, serene landscape. This place is repeatedly awarded for its premium wines and we would recommend you take lunch here to complement the wine tasting!

En-route to our next destination, we will make a short stop to sample the atmosphere of Beja, a now peaceful city that once played a very important historical role in the defence of the borders of Portugal.

We continue our drive to a luxury hotel in รvora, situated next to a Roman temple, where you will have some free time before dinner. Today, we look forward to visiting several wineries and vineyards in the รvora region. No need to pack as you will be staying another night at your luxury hotel in รvora tonight!
Each of the wineries we will be visiting today have their own unique character. You will enjoy the swathes of the vineyards, the clusters of olive groves and the many fields of local crops grown using purely organic methods. You will not only have the chance to savour many of the different wines made here but also to possibly consume a selective lunch at one of the wineries.
After the many visits and tastings, we drive back to your luxury hotel in รvora, where you will have time to rest before a short, guided walk to another excellent restaurant for some fine dining.

After which we progress further on, to the Quinta dos Loridos, located adjacent to the famous Buddha Eden Gardens. After this visit, it is high time to move on to our next destination: รbidos the town that time forgot. This medieval village is one of the most picturesque and best preserved, fortified towns in Portugal. You will fall head over heels in love with its labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets and charming huddled houses which are watched over by a sturdy castle guardian. You will learn from your guide how the town was given a very romantic nickname. Remember, don`t miss the chance to taste the cherry liqueur called Ginjinha de รbidos which is served to you in a chocolate cup!

Day 6: Wine tasting at the heart of the Dรฃo region and Viseu.

Today, after breakfast, there`s a longer drive because we are heading north to visit to a quinta in the neighbourhood of Viseu at the heart of the Dรฃo region, just south of the Douro valley. Dรฃo wines, are among the most highly rated wines in Europe.
Of course, we will have a wine tasting at this quinta, but for lunch we would recommend a high-end Portuguese restaurant located right in the heart of the historic city of Viseu. The founder of this well-known restaurant scoured the villages of the region, looking for old, native recipes which have been passed down verbally generation after generation, in order to create a unique menu.

After lunch, it is high time to discover the historical centre of Viseu with its narrow medieval streets. At the square in front of the cathedral, you will marvel at the many astounding granite buildings. You will certainly need some time to admire this square, and its surrounding structures but it is especially the vaults, which are decorated in Manueline style with ropes and knots, that make the cathedral exceptionally interesting.
In the historic centre, you can recommend another fine dining restaurant with a traditional and correspondingly cosy atmosphere, and, of course, all of this is accompanied by exquisite wines.

Day 7: Quinta do Crasto, Douro Valley

Today, we continue to travel further north to the Douro Valley, a wine region which is recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. We visit a beautifully located quinta on the right bank of the Douro River. Over the centuries it has perfected Douro and Porto wines, and, also makes some of the best extra virgin olive oils in the region.
We will certainly make time for wine tasting at the quinta. There are several options in the area where you can have lunch. A boat trip on the Douro River is planned for later in the schedule but, if you wish, this visit can be combined with an additional boat trip.

Day 9: The Minho region and Braga

Today we push further on to Portugalโs northernmost point, bordering Spain, for a visit to a quinta located in the Minho region. This quinta has pioneered the creation of Alvarinho wine which is only made in this region. The quinta benefits from a protective mountain range which helps create the perfect conditions for growing grapes.
After the wine tasting, you will have time for lunch. We then manoeuvre south toward the city of Braga, where you will be staying at a 5-star hotel just outside the city centre.

Braga, one of the oldest cities in Portugal, is a bustling student city. Its cathedral is the oldest in Portugal and was constructed in the 12th century. Just relax and take your time to stroll through the historic centre and visit the many churches, typical local houses and historic buildings and maybe even savour a cup of coffee at the famous cafรฉ Brasileira.

It`s time to pack your suitcase again! After breakfast, we drive to the city of Porto.
Here, you will be staying at a 5-star hotel in an incredible setting at a historic palace in the heart of Porto. It`s a very convenient setting because many of the cityโs attractions are located nearby.
Our focus of the day will be on port wine. Port wine is created in the Douro Valley, but it`s the city of Porto that gives the wine its name. It has been this way for centuries. The Port wine cellars we will be visiting are all located near the river. So, we will walk from one to the other, where you have the option to enjoy tastings and delicious snacks along the way.
