Silk Road At A Glance: Urumqi To Turpan, Dunhuang And Jiayug

Upon arrival at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport or Urumqi Railway Station, your guide will pick you up at arrival exit and then transfer you to the hotel.  Accommodation: Urumqi 3-star Jinggu Hotel or equivalent  Meals: NULL

Today your first stop of the day is Xinjiang Museum that is renown for the well-preserved mummies excavated from the desert. The museum is closed on Mondays. The mummies are exhibited on the second floor with amazed conditions. Moreover there are plenty of relics in the musuem as well displaying the slendid history in Xinjiang. After the museum, you will take one-hour ride to Heavenly Lake, which is called Tianshan in Chinese. Located on the north of the Tianshan Mountains, Heavenly Lake is a quiet place to view mountains with the blue lake water. This afternnon, you will wander around the Erdaoqiao International Bazaar in Urumqi, where you can purchase all sorts of souvenirs.  Accommodation: Urumqi 3-star Jinggu Hotel or equivalent Meal: Breakfast

After hotel breakfast, you will take a 3-hour ride to Turpan, a historical town on the ancient Silk Road with splendid history. Upon arrival, you will visit Emin Minaret or Sugong Minaret which is the symbol of Turpan with its pretty Uyghur architecture. Then you will explore the Ancient City of Gaochang, Bezklik Grottos, and Astana Ancient Tombs with local guide to learn the history and culture. Lunch is arranged at local Uyghur home or restaurant.
