Discovery Journey Through Mexico City’S Historic Center And Optional Lucha Libre Night

Start your day with a mouthwatering breakfast and a collective walking tour of Mexico City’s historic center.

You will be able to explore Mexico City’s historic center by yourself or we can hire a local English-speaking guide who will accompany you and show you around important buildings such as the Zocalo Square, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the ruins of the Templo Mayor. This visit will provide an opportunity to learn more about architecture and art, including works by painter Diego Riviera. During the 3-hour walk, you will explore this vast megalopolis that was once a lake.

Optional Lucha Libre:

For the evening, meet your English-speaking guide, a former Lucha Libre wrestler, to experience an unusual night in the heart of Mexico City. You will continue with a 2 hour walking tour to learn more about the history of Lucha Libre in Mexico and the importance of this sport in the local culture. You will have the opportunity to taste an artisanal mezcal with a delicious guacamole, and then you will head to the mythical Arena Mexico. Once you’ve settled in, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to support the Técnicos or the Rudos. Put on your mask and enjoy this authentic show in the Aztec capital. (Please note that Lucha Libre shows are held only on tuesdays, fridays and sundays)

Colors Of Mexico City: The Unseen Side Of Xochimilco And Coyoacán

Your English-speaking guide will pick you up to visit the southern area of Mexico City. Your first stop will be one of the most emblematic areas of the capital: the canals of Xochimilco, a word that in Nahuatl means Field of Flowers and that is the last memory of the rivers that crossed the valley of the ancient Tenochtitlan. You will board a traditional trajinera, a colorfully painted wooden boat, and while you sail you will learn about the history of the place, its famous chinampas or floating gardens, and the famous ajolotes.

You will continue your day in the bohemian neighborhood of Coyoacán, one of the most picturesque in the city and characterized by its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. During your walk you will see churches, squares and beautiful gardens. We suggest you taste the typical desserts of the neighborhood, such as the delicious churros and ice cream. Finally you will visit the Casa Azul, a space dedicated to the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, you will see paintings, photographs and personal objects that belonged to her and her partner Diego Rivera, as well as her studio, kitchen, bedroom and, of course, the beautiful courtyard garden.

Castillo de Chapultepec:

Imagine and relive all the history of the Chapultepec Castle, which is considered the most historical monument in the Mexican country. You will walk through the corridors and rooms of this castle, which preserves a vast collection of murals, photographs, documents, jewellery, clothes, furniture, among many other objects that show important parts of Mexican history.

Anthropology Museum:

The Museum of Anthropology is one of the most important and famous museums in Mexico. It is considered one of the best anthropology museums in the world. The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts and objects from the different cultures and civilizations that have shaped the history of Mexico, from pre-Columbian times to the present day. In other words, the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City is a must-see place to discover the history, culture and traditions of Mexico’s ancient civilizations.

Gastronomical Night Experience:

At the end of the day, you will have the option to experiment a traditional night life. Your local English-speaking guide will pick you up for a private dinner of about 3 hours on the streets of the Aztec capital. Narvarte is known throughout Mexico City for its tacos, and you’ll begin the tour at a neighborhood taqueria specializing in "volcanes," a type of crispy tortilla cooked over a charcoal flame, topped with cheese and poblano chiles. From here, you can enjoy tacos al pastor and tacos suadero from vendors who have been in the neighborhood for decades. You’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City’s cantina culture, where you’ll sip a cold beer or cocktail if you like. You’ll continue with a small-scale artisanal mezcal tasting at a cozy neighborhood restaurant, in a private mezcal tasting led by a chef and local expert.

Biking In Teotihuacan, "The City Of Gods"

Today, after an early breakfast, you will visit one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Mexico and get to know it in a unique way.

At around 8:00 am you will be personally picked up from your hotel and driven to the archaeological site located 1 hour - 1.5 hours from the city. To start your walking tour, your guide will tell you all the mysteries of this ancient city, where you will admire buildings such as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent and the impressive Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. After a short break, you will take a bicycle to ride through the Teotihuacan Valley that surrounds the archaeological site, as well as a cave. At the end of the tour, you will return the bike and leave for lunch. Around 4:00 pm, you will take the road to your new destination: Cholula.

Uncover Cholula’S Pyramid And Baroque Treasures

Today, your transportation and local guide in english will take you on a tour of approximately 6 hours to discover the archaeological zone of Cholula, home to the largest pyramid in Mesoamerica. Experts claim that it is even larger than the pyramid of Giza. During the tour, you will visit the museum and the altar courtyard. Upon reaching the summit, you can admire the Church of Remedies, built by the Spaniards during the conquest.

You will continue this tour with a visit to the town of Tonantzintla, where you can appreciate its church, a 16th-century temple that showcases the Baroque art that flourished in New Spain. Next, you will explore another church, San Francisco Acatepec, distinguished by its facade adorned with Talavera tile mosaics combined with red bricks. To conclude the tour, you will visit the Talavera de la Reyna factory, where you will have the opportunity to tour the factory and witness the work of the artisans up close. You can appreciate the different stages of the production process, from moulding and decoration to glazing and firing in traditional wood-fired kilns. After the visit, you will return to your hotel.

Market Exploration and Mole Masterclass:

You will meet your local English-speaking guide to embark on a 4-hour stroll through some of the oldest neighborhoods of colonial Puebla. You will head toward the market to appreciate its vibrant colors, sounds, aromas, and of course: its flavors! Next, you will meet a chef who will guide you in preparing the delicious mole, a unique dish made from a variety of ingredients such as chocolate, almonds, sesame seeds, a variety of dried peppers, among others.

Of course, the chef will share his traditional cooking secrets with you. Finally, you will savor the mole you have prepared, served in a Talavera-style dish (traditional pottery), a beautiful handcrafted traditional pottery of Puebla.
