  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive In Tokyo + Free Time

      Day 1: Arrive In Tokyo + Free Time

      Tokyo: Day 1 - *This itinerary is based on public transport and there will be a lot of walking required. We strongly recommend that our customers have internet access while travelling in Japan. For the guided days, your Adventure Leader will guide you to the activities. For the unguided days, you will be provided with information for the recommended itinerary.*

      Tokyo: Day 1 - You will arrive in Tokyo where you will then make your way to your hotel. You will have the whole day to enjoy some free time. This will allow you to explore Tokyo. You can use this time to get settled and take in your first impressions of Tokyo.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Shinjuku Gyoen + Metropolitan Government Building

      Day 2: Shinjuku Gyoen + Metropolitan Government Building

      Tokyo: Day 2 - Today you will meet your Adventure Leader in the lobby of your hotel. They will give you a briefing on your trip which will include all of the important information you will need to know before your trip starts. After you will enjoy the wonders of Shinjuku Gyoen, one of the biggest parks in Tokyo. *Shinjuku Gyoen is busy in Springtime due to the cherry blossoms* In the afternoon you will travel to the Metropolitan Government Building, where, you will be able to take in fabulous views of the city and learn some interesting facts about the building. After this, you will explore the Sensล-Ji temple and take a wander around Asakusa which has a lot of authentic shops and food stalls.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Ghibli Museum + Shibuya Crossing

      Day 3: Ghibli Museum + Shibuya Crossing

      Tokyo: Day 3 - To start the day you will visit the Ghibli Museum, an animation studio where you can enter the world of anime and experience it come to life. *Due to overwhelming demand and a lottery system, tickets are not guaranteed โ€“ we will refund you if tickets are not available* In the afternoon you will explore the Harajuku area, here you will visit the Meiji Shrine which is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his wife and then you will make your way to Tokyoโ€™s fashion district. In the afternoon you will head to Shibuya Crossing, the busiest crossing in the world. You will have the opportunity to make your way up to the second floor of the Tsutaya building and admire the crossing from above. After this, you have the opportunity to take part in an optional activity - (Take some time to relax in one of the cityโ€™s quirky owl cafรฉs).cafรฉs).

  • Day 4 Day 4: Tsukiji Fish Market (Optional) + Visit A Samurai Museum

      Day 4: Tsukiji Fish Market (Optional) + Visit A Samurai Museum

      Tokyo: Day 4 - In the morning you will be able to take part in an optional activity - (Visit the Tsukiji Fish Market, where you can learn about the huge fishing industry and indulge in some fresh fish for breakfast). After you will visit Akihabara, a buzzing shopping hub in Tokyo known for its electronics retailers, ranging from tiny stalls to vast department stores. In the afternoon you will take part in a sushi-making class or a variety of optional activities - (Learn the ancient art of samurai with a short sword demonstration in Tokyoโ€™s Samurai Museum, try on samurai outfits and have a go at the sport or visit the batting cages and experience some Japenese baseball).

  • Day 5 Day 5: Travel To Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park + Mount Fuji

      Day 5: Travel To Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park + Mount Fuji

      Hakone: Day 5 - Hop on the train to the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, where you will be able to soak up the incredible views of Mt. Fuji. In the afternoon you will take a cable car through the park and cross Lake Ashiโ€™s clear blue waters to sample some black eggs, a local delicacy created by the sulphuric waters. In the evening you will stay in a traditional Japenese style of accommodation where you will experience the traditional hot springs, known as โ€œonsenโ€. *Please note: those with tattoos may not be able to enter the โ€œonsenโ€ in Japan as tattoos are associated with gang culture* โ€“ you can read more about it here https://thedragontrip.com/japan-tattoo

  • Day 6 Day 6: Travel To Hiroshima + All You Can Eat Okonomiyaki

      Day 6: Travel To Hiroshima + All You Can Eat Okonomiyaki

      Hiroshima: Day 6 - Enjoy some free time in the morning before travelling to Hiroshima. You wonโ€™t have a guide for this part of your trip, so you will have to hop on the train to Hiroshima by yourselves and then transfer to your hotel via tram. In the evening you will sit down and enjoy an all you can eat Okonomiyaki dinner (a savoury pancake - known as one of the best in Hiroshima).

  • Day 7 Day 7: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

      Hiroshima: Day 7 - Visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and learn about its history from World War II and how the worldโ€™s first atomic bomb affected the city. After, hop on a train and a ferry to Miyajima Island. Here you will visit the Itsukushima Shrine, a temple built on stilts, a popular tourist spot. In the afternoon you will make your way back to your hotel and enjoy a free evening for yourselves!

  • Day 8 Day 8: Travel To Kyoto + Meditation Class
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Travel To Kyoto + Meditation Class

      Kyoto: Day 8 - Without your guide, you will hop on a bullet train to Kyoto. Here you will meet your new Adventure Leader at the station and  spend the afternoon at Daisen-In Temple where you will take part in a meditation class and a tea ceremony. Later you will visit The Golden Pavilion at the Kinkaku-ji Zen Buddhist Temple and take part in an optional activity -  (Visit the theatre at Gion Corner where you can watch Japanese performances of comedy, spoken word and dance. *We recommend that you queue for the show at least 1 hour before it starts*

  • Day 9 Day 9: Kiyomizu Dera Temple + Monkey Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 9: Kiyomizu Dera Temple + Monkey Park

      Kyoto: Day 9 - Visit the 1,200-year-old Kiyomizu Dera temple and then take a stroll through the Higashiyama District where youโ€™ll be able to explore some authentic local shops. In the afternoon you will take some time to visit the outskirts of Kyoto and explore some sights in Arashiyama such as the bamboo forest. Later on, you can take part in some suggested optional activities - (Visit the Arashiyama Monkey Park and feed the monkeys or explore the Nishiki Food Market, a marketplace renowned as the place to obtain many of Kyotoโ€™s famous foods and goods).

  • Day 10 Day 10: Calligraphy Lesson + Pontocho Alley

      Day 10: Calligraphy Lesson + Pontocho Alley

      Kyoto: Day 10 - In the morning take part in a calligraphy lesson which will be taught by a Japenese master. Later, you can enjoy a variety of optional activities - (Dress up in a traditional Kimono and walk around Kyoto or visit the International Manga Museum). Afterwards, you will visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine located in the hills of Kyoto and spend the evening exploring the atmospheric Pontocho Alley.

  • Day 11 Day 11: Nara Or Osaka Tour

      Day 11: Nara Or Osaka Tour

      Nara or Osaka: Day 11 (unguided)- Today you will have the option to take part in two different tours: Nara or Osaka. Nara Tour - Visit the Todaiji Temple and wander the grounds of Nara Park where you can take some time to feed the wild deers. Osaka Tour - Explore Osaka castle and grounds, then pay a visit to a nine-story gaming arcade in the heart of Osaka for a modern Japanese experience.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Make Your Way Home!

      Day 12: Make Your Way Home!

      Today you will either make your way to Osakaโ€™s Kansai airport to fly home or hop on the bullet train back to Tokyo and fly home from there. *We can arrange transfers back to Tokyo at an extra cost*
