Standard twin-sharing accommodation in a three-star hotel in Kathmandu ( 2 nights only) and Pokhara (1 night only) including breakfast. Teahouse/Guesthouse accommodation during the trek in mostly twin-share and occasionally dormitory-style rooms.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu (1,300M/4,264Ft) & Transfer To Hotel.

      On your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative and taken to your hotel in Thamel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek. This is a good opportunity to ask questions of your guide concerning the trek.

      This morning we will drive for about 5 to 6 hours before reaching Besisahar - approximately 190 kilometers from Kathmandu. From Besisahar we will take a jeep to Syange where you will have some unbelievable views of Mt. Annapurna II (7937m), Mt. Manaslu (8156m), and Mt Lamjung (6983m).

      Today the feet hit the dirt as we trek along a trail through a gorge with its magnificent waterfalls cascading down into it and with frequent views of snow-capped mountain peaks along the trail. The winding trail takes us from Syange via Jagat Village (1410m) and to Chamje Village. After crossing a bridge there is a steep climb before we arrive at the village of Tal (1700m), located next to the Marsyangdi River. From Tal we continue until we arrive at todayโ€™s destination, Dharapani Village.

      After leaving Dharapani we head higher and will notice that it is much cooler. You will also notice a change in the terrain at this higher elevation as the trail heads through forests before coming to the Tibetan village of the Bagarchhap with its typical Tibetan architecture. Again heading higher we arrive at the apple-growing region with many farms, pine forests, and views of Lamjung and Annapurna II peaks. We then follow the Marsyangdi River heading upstream and pass the villages of Manang and Koto before arriving at Chame Village. It is an easy walk from Koto to Chame the district headquarters of the Manang region.

      Leaving Chame we first pass through Telekhu Village and on the trail have some magnificent views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m). We then re-cross the river on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River and then head higher passing through a pine-forest as we trek through the upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang.

      The town of Pisang is the start of our trek into the Upper Manang region. We first head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinctive architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa, the largest in the Manang region. Manang is popular with trekkers and is also an ideal place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes.

      Health experts recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also suggest staying active. From Manang you will have some truly amazing views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and in the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) in the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) meters in the north. To better acclimatize we will climb up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m).

      Today we trek for around 4 to 5 hours before coming to Kangsar Village (3756m). The trail then heads uphill to Siri Kharka. The trail is physically tough going, but once we are at higher altitudes the views will compensate. You will have some astounding views of Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu. We have to tread carefully on this part of the trail to avoid slips and the possibility of avalanches. 

  • Day 9 Day 9: Hike Up To Tilicho Lake (4920M) & Trek Back To Shree Kharka (4,000M) Duration 7-8 Hours.

      Early this morning at about 4:30 am we head to Tilicho Lake and then return to Tilicho Base Camp for our lunch break. We then head to Shree Kharka.

      This morning we start our trek by descending to Khangsar Village via Tare Gumba (3870m) known for its monastery. We follow the trail through the Thorong Khola Valley until we reach the abandoned village of Old Khangsar before coming to Yak Kharka.

      As we ascend we slowly become used to the higher altitude. We follow the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) surrounded be steep bluffs before reaching Thorong Phedi (meaning foot hills). We may also decide to trek for one more hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are fortunate we may glimpse the famous blue sheep and even a snow leopard! This is also home to the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief the mythical griffons (creature with a lionโ€™s body & birdโ€™s head) are in this region!

      Today is undoubtedly the toughest day of the trek as we trek for around 8 to 9 hours. The higher altitude adds to the degree of difficulty, and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions make it hard going. On the trail, we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods. Once we arrive at Thorong La Pass we will have some breath-taking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the conspicuous peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We then descend around 1600 metres and the trail eventually becomes more undulating and relatively easy before we reach Muktinath.

      After leaving Muktinath we pass through lush mountain meadows, fruit trees, streams, and through Kagbeni before we reach Jomson in the. Kali Gandaki Valley. Kagbeni has a reputation for its horticulture industry. Jomsom is also well known for its apple cider! 

  • Day 14 Day 14: Fly Back To Pokhara & Transfer To Hotel.

      Today is our last day on the trail as we head to the small airport terminal at Jomson where we take a short 30-minute flight to Pokhara. Once you are up in the air you have some amazing views of the Himalayas. This evening you can sit back and relax, enjoy a drink, and look back on your adventure through the Annapurna Conservation Area. A good place to be is at lakeside as the sun sets where you can see the sun dropping below the mountains. Other attractions in Pokhara are the World Peace Pagoda (clearly visible across Phewa Tal (lake), Bindabasini Temple, Matepani Buddhist Monastery, International Mountain Museum, and Deviโ€™s Falls.

      Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many warm memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will stay with you forever. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be taken back to your hotels in Thamel where you can do some last minute shopping or have a well-earned break at a cafรฉ or bar to celebrate the successful completion of your trek.
