      On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative, and taken to your hotel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek. where you will meet your guide and other members of your party.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Permit Preparation For Peak Climbing And Short Briefing.

      Day 2: Permit Preparation For Peak Climbing And Short Briefing.

      Today we will take you to a natural rock climbing spot at Balaju which is only 3 kilometers from Thamel. You will be instructed on how to use various pieces of climbing equipment, such as ropes, harness, ice axes, and crampons. It will also improve your level of fitness. Alternatively, we will do a half-day sightseeing tour with our guide to the several of most historical and religious places of interest in the Kathmandu Valley. We will visit Pashupatinath, which is regarded as the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal and where pilgrims worship Lord Shiva (situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River), Bouddhanath, a Buddhist temple known as โ€˜Little Tibetโ€™ and then on to Swayambhunath known as the Monkey Temple. From Swayambhunath we drive to Kathmanduโ€™s famous Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage listed site and located in front of the old royal palace. On returning from our tour there will be a pre-trip discussion with our guide and other team members. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will brief you regarding your trek and discuss any issues regarding your forthcoming climbing adventure. The rest of the day is free for you to wander around Thamel and shop for any extra items you may need before heading off to Thorong Peak.

      Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and then together we will head out on a 7 to 8 hour drive to Bhulbhule, via Besisahar. At Besisahar we stop to register with the local authorities. You will have time to get accustomed to the Nepal countryside before coming to Bhulbhule that is situated on the banks of the Marsyangdi River where we stay the night.

      The trek today of about six hours gives you an insight to how the local people in this region survive in such a harsh and remote environment. We will stay overnight at Jagat.

      This morning we will trek for one and half hours on a rocky trail until we reach Chamje Village. The next village we come to is Tal, a quaint village located on the Marsyangdi River bank and with a beautiful waterfall view. We continue on the trail until we arrive at Dharapani where we will camp overnight.

      Today we have a six-hour trek from Dharapani, gradually climbing higher and with a noticeable change and cooler conditions. You will also see a change in the terrain at this higher elevation as the trail passes through forests before coming to the Tibetan village of the Bagarchhap with its characteristic Tibetan architecture. Climbing higher we arrive at the apple-growing region with farms and pine forests. We can also see Lamjung and Annapurna II peaks from here. The trail then leads along the banks of the Marsyangdi River heading upstream and passes the villages of Manang and Koto before we eventually arrive at Chame. It is a fairly easy walk from Koto to Chame where we spend the night. Chame is also the district headquarters of the Manang region.

      Leaving Chame we pass through the village of Telekhu and on the trail will have some magnificent views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m). We then have to re-cross on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the river we ascend through a pine-forest as we trek along the upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang. At the upper part of Pisang village we can see Pisang and Chulu peaks. Tonight we stay at Pisang.

      The town of Pisang is the beginning of our trek into the upper Manang area. Today we head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinctive architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa (Buddhist fortification), the largest in the Manang region. Manang is popular with trekkers and is also a place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. We stay here for the night.

      Medical professionals strongly recommend that before heading to higher elevations that you spend some time acclimatizing. They also recommend staying active in order to improve this process. From Manang you will have some great views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and to the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge)to the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) meters in the north. Today, to better acclimatize we will climb up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m). Tonight we stay at Manang.

      This morning we head off on a 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka and along the way pass through juniper forests and will see yak grazing in these alpine pastures. On the trail we pass the only teahouse at Thorong Khola. The vegetation at this elevation is mainly juniper trees. Depending on the weather conditions we may choose to go a little further and stay the night at Letdar.

      As we ascend we slowly get used to the higher altitude. We follow the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola and along the trail view steep bluffs before coming to Thorong Phedi (meaning foot hills). We can also trek for one more hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are fortunate we may see the famous blue sheep and even a snow leopard! This is also home to the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). The trail continues until we arrive at Thorong Phedi where we will stay the night.

      This morning we trudge uphill until we come to Thorong Peak Base Camp. We will have time to rest and prepare our gear for tomorrowโ€™s climb to the peak.

      Your guide will today prepare you by going over safety procedures and the use of roping techniques. The prevailing weather conditions will greatly affect the climb to the peak. It is in your best interests that you are prepared for any eventuality that may occur on your climb to the summit. Your day on the peak will be the best part of this trek. The physical exertion demanded of you will be rewarded by some of the most spectacular views of the surrounding snow-clad peaks. These memories will be firmly entrenched in your memory.

  • Day 14 Day 14: Summit To Thorong Peak (6144M) And Trek Down To Muktinath (3802M) 9-10 Hours.

      Today is the day you have been anxiously waiting for as we arise in the early hours of the morning in order to reach the peak with plenty of time to spare. We will climb steadily and stop for periods to rest and take in the incredible views before us of Thorong Peak and other nearby snowy peaks. The scenery is totally stunning and well worth the effort of having to climb at these physically demanding elevations.

      Today is a reserve day for in the event of unforeseen weather conditions or other problems. If we have to delay the climb, then we can use it in preparation and acclimatization.

      This morning we will wake up to the sound of the bells from the temple. We will then have breakfast and head down to Kagbeni. The trail to Kagbeni is alongside the Kaligandaki River. We may choose Kagbeni as a place to stop for lunch. After a few hours on the trail we come to Jomsom, a large thriving town and the headquarters of the Mustang region. It has an airstrip located just above the Kaligandaki River and is a link in the old Trans-Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet.

      We will stay here overnight.

      Today is our last day in the mountains as we head to the tiny airport terminal at Jomson from where we take a short 15 to 20-minute flight to Pokhara. Once airborne we will have some remarkable views of the Himalayan Mountains. This evening in Pokhara you can sit back and relax, enjoy and drink and look back on your adventure through the amazing Annapurna Conservation Area. Lakeside is a great place to watch the sunset over the mountains. Your guide will also take you to the World Peace Pagoda (clearly visible across Phewa Tal (lake), Bindabasini Temple, boating on Phewa Lake, Matepani Buddhist Monastery, International Mountain Museum and Deviโ€™s Falls. 

  • Day 18 Day 18: Drive From Pokhara To Kathmandu. (1,350M) 6-7 Hours.

      Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many warm memories of Nepal and its exceptional culture and geography. On arrival we will take you to your hotel in Thamel. You will have time to  wander around Thamel and do some last minute shopping or sit back in a cafรฉ and catch up on emails to friends.

  • Day 19 Day 19: Transfer To The International Airport For Your Final Departure.

      Today is the last day in Nepal. A representative from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will take you to the airport at least three hours before your scheduled flight. We look forward to seeing you again. On your return home, you may already be planning on your next climb to one of the many peaks in Nepal.
