The Ultimate 5-days Voyage Around Issyk Kul Lake

Itinerary

Day 1: Bishkek - Burana Tower - Chon Kemin valley - Cholpon Ata town

Stop At: Burana Tower, Don-Aryk, Tokmok 722201 Kyrgyzstan
In the morning you’ll be picked up from a hotel or airport and will head straight towards the Issyk Kul region. On the way stop at the famous ancient Burana Tower. This UNESCO World Heritage site will be of interest to the history fiends. We’ll spend around 30 minutes here: climb on the top of the tower, visit the archaeological museum and walk around to have a look at the balbals (ancient stones with the depictions). Resuming our way to Issyk Kul.

Stop At: Chon-Kemin National Park, Kemin Kyrgyzstan
Second stop on the way is the mountainous valley Chon Kemin. Here we’ll have a fascinating horseback ride up to a picturesque forest. Lunch at the local guesthouse. Moving on further to Issyk Kul.

Stop At: Cholpon Ata, Cholpon Ata, Issyk Kul Province
Upon arrival in Cholpon Ata (central town of the lake’s northern coast) we’ll check in at a guesthouse after which head to the port to have a beautiful boat ride out on the lake. Dinner at a restaurant. Free time. Overnight.

Day 2: Cholpon Ata - Grigoriev gorge - Karakol town

Stop At: Cholpon Ata, Cholpon Ata, Issyk Kul Province
In the morning after breakfast we’ll visit the 2 places of a great interest: the Historical Museum where you will trace the entire history of Kyrgyzstan and the spiritual center Rukh Ordo which is dedicated to 5 main religions of the world. Free time at the beach for swimming and sunbathing. At noontime we set off for another town of Issyk Kul - Karakol which is located on the line between the northern and southern coasts.

Stop At: Grigorevskoye Canyon, Grigoryevka Kyrgyzstan
On the way we’ll visit the picturesque Grigoriev gorge with its rich green meadows. Lunch on the river bank. Moving to Karakol.

Stop At: Karakol, Karakol, Issyk Kul Province
City tour upon arrival: Prjevalsky museum, Dungan mosque (1910), Russian Orthodox Church (1895), local zoo. Check in at a hotel. Free time. Dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight.

Day 3: Karakol - Ski base - Karakol - Jeti Oguz

Stop At: Karakol, Karakol, Issyk Kul Province
In the morning we head outside Karakol to the famous Ski base. In winter you would have a beautiful skiing experience here but in summer you are going to have no less stunning view on the whole region. Luscious green meadows, vast conifer forests and the whole lake at a stretched hand’s length - it’s all about this ski base. A funicular will take you up to the height of 3040m above sea level and back down. Return to Karakol. Lunch. Now we’re leaving this small but nice town and direct towards the southern coast.

Stop At: Jeti-Oguz Canyon (Seven Bulls Rocks), Kyrgyzstan
Today’s destination is the gorgeous Jeti Oguz valley which will disclose to you its legend. Driving up the mountains, deeper in valley we’ll arrive at Jailoo (green summer pasture) where a yurt camp is located. Check in. Now it’s time for a magnificent horseback voyage through the forests and rivers to the lovely waterfall. Free time for a walk. Dinner. Free time around a bonfire. Overnight.

Day 4: Jeti Oguz - Barskoon - Skazka canyon - Bokonbaevo village

Stop At: Jeti-Oguz Canyon (Seven Bulls Rocks), Kyrgyzstan
In the morning after breakfast in a yurt, we’ll have around a couple of hours more in Jeti Oguz. Resuming our way along the southern coast.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Barskoon Waterfall, Barskoon Kyrgyzstan
A visit to the Barskoon waterfall.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Canyon Skazka, Tosor Kyrgyzstan
A visit to the fascinating Skazka (Fairy Tale) canyon for a beautiful hike. Free time for a swim in the lake. Lunch.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Bokonbayevo, Bokonbayevo, Issyk Kul Province
Upon arrival in Bokonbaevo village, check in at a guesthouse. Rest time. At a sunset time we’ll get out to the open space for witnessing the spectacular Falconry Show (eagle hunting for its prey). The Berkutchi (falcon’s owner) will tell you more precisely about this traditional way of hunting. Free time. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 5: Bokonbaevo - Bishkek

Stop At: Bokonbayevo, Bokonbayevo, Issyk Kul Province
In the morning we’ll have some time to walk around the village and visit a couple of craft shops where you will learn more about the national embroidery, felt carpet weaving and yurt structure. Return to Bishkek (4 hours).

Stop At: Bishkek, Bishkek
Rest time at a hotel (not included). In the evening you will have a lovely city tour and a farewell dinner with the guide and driver. Drop off at a hotel or airport. End of the tour.
