Itinerary of your trip Uzbekistan And Kyrgyzstan - Two Different Worlds

  • Day 1 Day 1: Tashkent
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Tashkent

      We arrive in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, checking into a hotel. Walks in the center, visiting the main square, Kukeldash madrassah, lunch in the famous Chorsu bazaar.

  • Day 2 Day 2-3: Ancient City - Khiva
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2-3: Ancient City - Khiva

      We will fly to Urgench (2 hours), a short trip to Khiva, the capital of the Khwarazm empire. Checking into a hotel near the gate to the old city. We will explore the walled inner town Itchan kala, visit famous minarets Kalta-Minor, Islom-Khodzha, ancient mosques and a museum. Next day we take a trip to the desert where we explore ruins of ancient Ayaz-kala i Toprak-kala forst. Car trip to Bukhara through the Kyzylkum desert (6-7 hours on the way), checking into a hotel.

  • Day 3 Day 4-5: Ancient City - Bukhara

      Day 4-5: Ancient City - Bukhara

      During our stay in Bukhara we visit massive 5th century Ark fortress, Lyabi Hauz and Po-i-Kalyan complexes, mausoleums, medrese, and the palace of emir of Bukhara. We will also enjoy local music, cuisine and see some unique souvenirs. Those intetested can visit Uzbek sauna which was open in 16th century!

  • Day 4 Day 6-8: Way To Samarkand

      Day 6-8: Way To Samarkand

      On the way to Samarkand we will visit the town of Gijduvan known as the center of traditional ceramics. We will also visit Nurata with its 16th century Islamic complex. Evening arrival in Samarkand, checking into a hotel. We explore city center on foot, visiting Registan, stunning 15th century Bibi-Khanym mosque and grand mausoleum of 15th century conqueror Tamerlane. We will also visit the impressive Shah-i-Zinda necropolis where many Muslim saints are buried. We will also see the remains of Afrosiab city, a former capital of Sogdia kingdom that resisted Alexander the Great. Transfer to Tashkent on a comfortable train (about 4 hours), check-in at the hotel.

  • Day 5 Day 9-10: Bishkek

      Day 9-10: Bishkek

      Long bus trip (12-14 hours with stops) to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Checking into a lovely hostel famous among foreign travelers. Walking in the city center, visiting the Ala Too square, a bustling city bazar and an authentic restaurant of Kyrgyz cuisine.

  • Day 6 Day 11: Hot Springs Issyk Ata

      Day 11: Hot Springs Issyk Ata

      Arly in the morning we take a bus to Issyk Ata, hot springs 2700 meter above sea level. We will swim in the springs, explore shepherdโ€™s paths to the waterfall and the ancient carving of Buddha Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism. Night in a simple hotel near the springs.

  • Day 7 Day 12: Bom Canyon

      Day 12: Bom Canyon

      Departure to the town of Karakol (6-7 hours), near the Issyk kul lake, via the picturesque Bom canyon. We will walk around one part of the picturesque lake, those interested can swim in the lake (water is about +15 Celsius). Then we walk to the nearby Museum of ancient petroglyphs. Night in a local hotel.

  • Day 8 Day 13-14: Issyk Kul Lake, Mountains

      Day 13-14: Issyk Kul Lake, Mountains

      We continue our drive around the Issyk kul lake, turn to the snow covered mountains near the Barskoon river and arrive in a stunningly beautiful plato with lakes 4000 meters above sea level, to permafrost mountains and lifeless mountain tundra. We will walk near the lakes, then drive down to 3000 meters and spend the night in a small family run hotel. This place has no mobile coverage, asphalt or electricity. But the family has a good sauna and make delicious plov.

  • Day 9 Day 15-16: Oto-Tokoy Water Reserve, Son-Kul Lake, Canyon Of Koko Meren

      Day 15-16: Oto-Tokoy Water Reserve, Son-Kul Lake, Canyon Of Koko Meren

      Next morning we move to the Oto-Tokoy water reserve where camels graze, and proceed to the town of Kochkorka. If we arrive late we will spend the night in a local hotel. If we arrive earlier we will proceed to the mesmerizing Son-Kul lake (2 hours) and spend the night in the yurt with local shepherds. Next morning we take off to explore the lake and the beautiful meadows with mountain rivers and ride horses and donkeys. We spend another night in yurts, heated by a small stove, and enjoy local food and tea. Next morning we take off to the village of Chaek. During 10-12 hours trip we will visit canyon of Koko Meren mountain river with breathtaking landscapes and go through lifeless Suusamyr valley. We spend a night in a small hotel in Toktogul or Karakol where we will enjoy mareโ€™s milk - kumis, and fresh trout cooked on the open fire.

  • Day 10 Day 17-18: Sary Chelek National Park

      Day 17-18: Sary Chelek National Park

      In the morning we drive further south and have lunch near the Toktogul water reserve. After about 6 hours we arrive in Sary Chelek national park, famous for its blue lakes. Here we spend the night in a simple house near the river. Next morning we ascend to the main lake where we spend a relaxing day, and might ride boats. Those interested can swim in unbelievably clear waters of about +15 Celsius. Night in the same house near the river.

  • Day 11 Day 19-20: Osh
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 19-20: Osh

      In the morning we go to the city of Osh (4 hours) where we will visit the holy Sulaiman-to mountain with the medieval mosque and bathing houses on top. According to local legends, in one of these caves, lived Zarathoustra - the famous zoroastrian prophet. Night in Osh. Morning flight to Bishkek and back home.
