      After meeting up in Taipei, weโ€™ll head down the west coast, stopping to visit some of Taiwanโ€™s most photogenic relics from both the Japanese colonial era and beyond. Weโ€™ll take a lesson of Hakka pound tea making in Miaoli before reaching Taichung where after checking into our hotel, weโ€™ll visit the famous Taichung Fengjia Night Market.

      • Visit the remains of the photogenic Longteng Bridge, damaged in the 1935 earthquake
      • Check out the wooden Japanese colonial era Shengxing Railway Station

      Day three is all about mountains as we head from Sun Moon Lake to another mountainous Alishan. After seeing the various beauty of Sun Moon Lake in the morning, weโ€™ll visit Zhushan and learn about Taiwanese tea on the way to Alishan, where weโ€™ll hike among the clouds through the verdant forests.

  • Day 4 From Alishan To Kaohsiung

      From Alishan To Kaohsiung

      In the morning, you may either get up early and hop on the Alishan Forest Railway to catch a view of the areaโ€™s famed "sea of clouds" that appears around dawn. Afterward, head to Kaohsiung, Taiwanโ€™s second-largest city, where we will spend the rest of the day exploring the countryโ€™s largest Buddhist monastery. Before checking into our hotel.

Then we will drive through Taiwanโ€™s banana belt to hit the pretty east coast town of Taitung. Itโ€™s time to head to the beautiful East Coast with its natural ecology and indigenous culture. After checking in at the hotel, take your time to relax in the famous Chihpen hot spring.

In addition to being where two tectonic plates meet, itโ€™s also where Taiwanโ€™s best rice is grown. Weโ€™ll stop at the Tropic of Cancer marker, visit a Japanese colonial-era sugar factory thatโ€™s been converted to ice-cream production, and have a wonderful time in general surrounded by bucolic splendor before reaching the coastal city of Hualien.

      Weโ€™ll spend the final day of our eight-day Taiwan adventure exploring world-renowned Taroko Gorge National Park, enjoying a guided trip to the parkโ€™s gorgeous gorge, rapid rivers, and wonderful waterfalls. After experiencing the majesty of Taroko Gorge, weโ€™ll slowly make our way back up the east coast, pausing beneath the Qingshui cliffs (Taiwanโ€™s largest coastal cliffs) before heading back to Taipei.
