Sonamarg, aptly named "the Meadows of Gold," awaits with its trekker’s paradise offering spectacular vistas of snow-capped peaks, sparkling lakes, and charming alpine forests. Witness the ethereal beauty as the golden sunlight paints the mountains in its warm glow. For an extra dose of adventure (not included), you can opt for a pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier and frolic in the snow. Our journey continues towards Kargil, traversing the majestic Zojila Pass. We’ll make a pit stop at Drass, the second-coldest inhabited place in the world, for a warm cup of tea to combat the chill. Following the Drass River, we arrive at Kargil, where a delicious dinner and comfortable overnight stay await at our hotel.

We’ll then experience the wonder of Magnetic Hill, where an optical illusion makes a downhill stretch appear to be uphill. As we continue our scenic drive, we’ll witness the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, two powerful waterways carving their paths through the majestic landscape. Embark on a quintessential Nubra experience - a camel safari on double-humped Bactrian camels, a fascinating remnant of the Silk Route trade. These unique creatures are only found in this region!

Next, we ascend to the historic Diskit Monastery, also known as Deskit Gompa. Perched majestically on a hilltop, it offers breathtaking panoramic vistas of the entire valley. Prepare to be awestruck by the enormous Buddha statue within the monastery, a major draw for thousands of visitors. To add to the charm, a vibrant local market bustles in the town of Diskit. Nicknamed "Sky Mirror," this stunning high-altitude lake sits at an impressive 14,270 feet (4,350 meters), making it one of the world’s highest saltwater lakes. Witness its turquoise waters contrasting dramatically with the rugged, arid mountains surrounding it. Spanning nearly 100 miles (160 kilometers), Pangong Tso is a shared beauty, with one-third of the lake residing in India and the remaining two-thirds in China.

En route, we’ll make a fascinating detour to the Shey Palace, a former summer residence of the Ladakhi Kings. Next up is the magnificent Thiksey Monastery, perched atop a hilltop and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Indus Valley. Brace yourself for a quick photo stop at Chang La Pass, situated at a staggering 17,999 feet (5,486 meters). We’ll then descend to the village of Tangtse, where a warm cup of tea awaits to refresh you. After a rejuvenating break, we continue our journey towards the magical Pangong Tso. Upon arrival, settle into your cozy camp. Depending on the time, you might even get a chance to visit the lakeshore before dinner and a restful overnight stay at the camp.
