      Flight from Frankfurt to San Josรฉ. Arrival, reception and transfer to your city hotel in San Josรฉ.

      After breakfast, you will explore the capital of Costa Rica. On your walk through the city, you will see the National Theatre (outdoor visit), the pedestrian zone and the Mercado Central - the market hall in the center of San Josรฉ. Immerse yourself in the colorful hustle and bustle of over 200 stalls and stores and look forward to the huge range of leather goods, souvenirs and typical Costa Rican specialties such as fragrant Costa Rican coffee beans - a feast for the senses! Then itโ€™s back to the hotel - past the Parque Morazรกn and the Edificio Metรกlico, a unique, magnificent neoclassical building constructed entirely from metal elements, which now serves as a school.

      Day 3: San Josรฉ - Tortuguero

      After a very early breakfast, you will travel by bus and boat to your jungle lodge in the impressive Tortuguero National Park. The park is an impressive nature reserve that extends over 77,000 hectares and is famous for its biodiversity. On the way there, you will discover the Afro-Caribbean village of Tortuguero - "the place where the turtles (Spanish: tortugas) come" directly on the Caribbean coast. Here you will get an exciting insight into life in the midst of beautiful nature.


      Note: Tortuguero National Park: Please take an additional travel bag or rucksack (suitable for luggage for 2-3 days) with you, as only one piece of luggage (max. 12 kg) is permitted for your stay in Tortuguero. The rest of your luggage will be stored for you.

      Relax by the pool at your cozy lodge in the morning. In the afternoon, an exciting boat trip through the narrow jungle channels of the national park awaits you to discover the impressive wildlife. Keep your eyes open! With a bit of luck, you may spot various species of monkeys and birds, sloths, caimans, freshwater turtles or green basilisks - the lizards that can walk on water. On land, in the air or in the water - there is something to observe everywhere! On top of that, one of the worldโ€™s largest breeding grounds for sea turtles awaits you here.

      Day 5: Tortuguero - La Fortuna - Arenal

      Today your journey takes you by boat and bus through the impressive landscapes to the north to La Fortuna at the foot of the Arenal volcano. You can see it in all its monumental splendor, especially on sunny days. The 1,670 m high cone is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. Just sit back and enjoy the breathtakingly exuberant vegetation as far as the eye can see.

      In the morning, the Arenal suspension bridges in the Mistico Park in the shadow of the Arenal volcano await you - from here you not only have a wonderful view of the rainforest and the volcano, but you can also get a birdโ€™s eye view of the magnificent tropical nature. With a bit of luck, you will see monkeys, sloths, snakes and up to 350 bird species in the canopy of the forest. The bridge paths are pleasantly non-slip and the safety standard is very high, so there is no need to worry. The afternoon is free for you to relax.

      Day 7: Arenal

      Today you will explore the Mirador 1968 - a 4.7 km circular and hiking trail near La Fortuna at the foot of the Arenal volcano. You hike directly through the bizarre landscape of solidified lava blocks and tropical vegetation with a view of the cooled lava fields that formed after the last major eruption on 29.07.1968. It has not erupted again since 2010, but you can still see clouds of smoke around the crater. If the volcano is not covered in clouds, you have a magnificent view of the high summit of the volcanic cone from here.

      You drive through the picturesque nature of Costa Rica to the vicinity of Rincรณn de la Vieja. On the way, you will visit Liberia - the charming and colorful capital of the province of Guanacaste, which is also characterized by its white colonial architecture from the 18th century. Here you will experience the relaxed lifestyle of the Costa Ricans - "la pura vida"!

      Today you will travel to the spectacular Rincรณn de la Vieja National Park - a highlight of every Costa Rica trip. On a hike, you can enjoy the view of the still active Rincรณn de la Vieja volcano without having to climb up to the crater. Your path leads you through a natural wilderness, past geysers, bubbling mud pools, small waterfalls and hot springs. You will discover a colorful world of animals, plants and trees - including, of course, the "Guanacaste", Costa Ricaโ€™s national tree. It is characterized by its size and expansive crown, which provides shade and attracts a wide variety of wildlife.
