      Today you get up around 02:30 and drive through the outer caldera to Penanjakan (2270m). The shining sun behind the volcano will stay in your memory forever. You'll then head back into the caldera to the foot of the volcano crater, where horses will take you up the mountainside to a staircase that leads up to the crater rim (2329 m).       After breakfast, your journey will continue to Bali, the island of the gods! From Ketapang Port, take a ferry to Gilimanuk. Once in Bali, continue to your beach hotel in the south of the island. Overnight in Sanur/ Nusa Dua. Meals included: Breakfast Bookable options Sunrise at Ijen volcano Today, you need to get up early to avoid missing one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on your trip through Java. At 4:30am, you will be picked up with an off-road jeep and, after a 1.5-hour drive through the mountain and plantation landscape, you will reach the base camp Paltuding at an altitude of 1850 meters. From there, walk uphill for the last 3 km until you reach the crater rim at an altitude of 2385 meters after about 1.5 to 2 hours. Along the way, you'll meet locals who carry 80kg baskets of sulfur on their shoulders swinging down the mountain. As you'll see above, the smoking sulfur fields are not far from the turquoise blue crater, surrounded by a wonderful view from the top of the volcano. You will then start your descent and be transferred back to your hotel.

Listen to the rhythmic sounds and exclamations of the performers, who dance into a trance during dramatic singing and can even walk over glowing coals without feeling any pain.
