Accommodation

โ€ข In Peru the standards that are used when judging hotels are somewhat different than what you might be familiar with. Here are some useful details about categories of lodging establishments: โ€ข 3 *** Hotels (local standards). A three-star hotel should have comfortable, simple, and clean rooms that have a private bathroom with hot water. Some hotels offer a safety deposit box, a heater in the room, and a mini-bar. โ€ข We do our best to choose a hotel which is located in a place that offers easy access to the town and its attractions.

On day 3 the pickup from your hotel will be at 07:30 am. With our private transportation, we will head towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way, we will stop at the viewpoint of Mirador de Taray to enjoy the famous Urubamba valley with views of crops dressing the surrounding mountains.

At the archeological site Pisac you can see the biggest Inca cemetery with more than 2,000 tombs and incredible farming terraces carved into the mountain. The guided tour will be 1.5 hours approx. After the tour, we will take you to the market of Pisac, for a short visit to spend some time shopping for souvenirs if you wish and then drive to Urubamba for lunch.

The 2nd sight visited is Moray also known as โ€œThe Greenhouses of the Incasโ€

The levels of terraces are carved into a huge circular depression, which was excavated by the Incas. The terraces have varied microclimates depending on how deep you go into this circular depression. These terraces have been used by the Incas to discover the optimal growing conditions for their crops.

Continuing our journey to the 3rd site, we will pass through the colonial town of Maras, ascending our way downhill to the pre-Inca salt mine. Thousands of saltpans have been used for salt extraction since Inca times.

At the top of the valley, there is a discharge from a small hot spring with a stream of heavily salt-laden water, which is diverted into the saltpans and evaporated to produce a salt that is used for human and animal consumption.

Finally, we drive to Ollantaytambo, having time to explore the age-old, massive and beautiful Inca ruins with your tour guide explaining the rich history.

Our van will be ready for us for the 2-hour return trip to Cusco and we will drop you off at your Cusco hotel.
