      Nature And Adventure

Start your adventure with a convenient hotel pick-up in Bogotá, transferring you to Terminal Salitre. Here, you’ll board a night bus to San Agustín, departing at 10:00 p.m. and arriving around 8:00 a.m. Upon arrival, a transfer will take you from the San Agustín terminal to your hotel between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast to prepare for an exciting day ahead.

At 2:00 p.m., choose between two thrilling activities based on your preferred level of physical activity:

Option 1: Horseback Riding Adventure: Ride through rural paths leading to the archaeological and natural sites of El Tablón and La Chaquira. As you traverse the majestic landscapes of the Colombian Massif on horseback, connect with the enigmatic archaeological sculptures discovered in these mountains. This scenic journey lasts approximately 3 hours.

Alternatively, you can opt for a car tour that visits the same sites mentioned above, plus three additional locations: El Tablón, La Chaquira, La Pelota, and El Purutal. This tour also takes about 3 hours and offers a more relaxed pace while exploring these significant cultural sites.

Option 2: Rafting on the Magdalena River: Cool off in the waters of the Magdalena River and experience an exhilarating adventure navigating its rapids, up to level 3. Starting at the bridge that divides the municipalities of San Agustín and Isnos, the rafting journey takes you 8 kilometers downstream, offering an exciting and refreshing experience that lasts approximately 3 hours.

After your chosen activity, you will be returned to your hotel in San Agustín, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.

  • Day 2 Archaeology, Culture, And Nature
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Archaeology, Culture, And Nature

Embark on a journey through the southern tourist ring to uncover the rich cultural and natural heritage of San Agustin and its surroundings.

Start your day with a visit to the iconic Estrecho del Magdalena, where Colombia’s national river narrows to just 2.20 meters within a stunning canyon nestled between the eastern and central mountain ranges. Here, you can immerse yourself in the art of weaving with plantain fiber alongside the Rengifo Becerra family, who will share their unique artisanal legacy—a tradition found only in Colombia.

Continue your tour along paths lined with sugarcane and coffee plantations until you reach the Alto de los Ídolos and Las Piedras Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the mysteries hidden within the mountains of the Central Andes as you marvel at the impressive Mortiño waterfall, cascading approximately 220 meters down. This full-day excursion lasts about 8 hours and includes car rides with stops at each tourist attraction and short walks to fully experience each site’s beauty and significance.

  • Day 3 Archaeology And Nature
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Archaeology And Nature

Discover the wonders of San Agustín on a day dedicated to archaeology and nature. Begin your adventure with a tour of the Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Immerse yourself in the magic and legacy left by the pre-Columbian cultures that once inhabited the Alto Magdalena region. Wander along trails surrounded by the rich flora and fauna of the Colombian Massif, and connect deeply with the ancestral heritage found at Mesitas A, B, C, Fuente del Lavapatas, Alto del Lavapatas, Bosque de las Estatuas, and the Museum. This walking tour, designed with low physical demand, allows ample time to absorb the profound cultural and historical significance of each site over 4 to 5 hours.

After your exploration, enjoy a leisurely afternoon to delve into the local culture. Stroll through the town’s craft street, adorned with vibrant murals depicting the region’s history and traditions. Visit the historic church, a testament to San Agustín’s colonial past, and discover specialty coffee shops offering unique blends that reflect the area’s coffee-growing heritage. This free time invites you to immerse yourself at your own pace in the charm and authenticity of San Agustín.

At 5:30 pm, we’ll provide a transfer from your hotel to San Agustín Terminal, where you’ll board a bus bound for Bogotá. Arriving in the early hours at Bogotá’s bus terminal, a vehicle will be waiting to transport you to your hotel, ensuring a comfortable and convenient return from your day of archaeological exploration and cultural immersion in San Agustín.
