Flights

You will be responsible for booking your own international and/or domestic flights. We additionally recommend you do not book your airfare until your place on the tour is confirmed. Please make sure to check the times that your tour will start and end before booking your flights.

Optional excursions are not included in the tour cost. All optional excursions are booked on tour and paid in cash to your tour leader, unless stated otherwise. Insurance

When you sign up for an Expat Explore tour, you are required to secure adequate travel insurance cover for the duration of your trip. If you cannot provide Expat Explore with proof of adequate travel insurance prior to the start of your tour, you will not be permitted to embark on day one. The requirements include the following coverage: Trip Interruption Trip Delay Medical Expenses Quarantine Expenses and Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation The insurance must also cover medical costs and a medically imposed quarantine if the insured or someone the insured has come into contact with, tests positive for COVID-19.       Welcome to Rome! Arrive in Italyโ€™s capital city in the morning and check into the hotel. Meet up with your tour leader who will provide the group with an overview of the upcoming itinerary. Then, set out on a guided walking tour of the city. See Ancient Roman architecture, medieval buildings, Renaissance artworks and more. Highlights include the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and more. Make a stop at the Trevi Fountain to toss a coin in the hopes that it will bring you both luck and the opportunity to return to Rome one day! Tonight, enjoy an included welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

      Enjoy a full free day in Rome, Italyโ€™s โ€œEternal Cityโ€! Explore more of the cityโ€™s top sights, go shopping or simply stroll through the buzzing streets, and soak up the atmosphere. Alternatively, use this free day to head to the Vatican City and learn more about the worldโ€™s smallest country and home of the Pope. Here, see the famous Sistine Chapel and the spectacular Vatican Museums. Or, stay in Rome and explore at your leisure. Spend some time exploring the cityโ€™s top sights in depth or simply relax at a cafรฉ or do some shopping.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Pompeii - Sorrento Region

      Day 3: Pompeii - Sorrento Region

      Today, itโ€™s time to head to the coast! Leave Rome behind and travel to the Sorrento Peninsula via Pompeii. See the legendary Mount Vesuvius from the road and explore the well-preserved ruins of this ancient Roman city which was destroyed by a catastrophic volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. Later, arrive in the Sorrento peninsula, where the tour will be based for the next two nights. Amongst other things, this area is famous for limoncello (a sweet lemon liqueur), and this beverage is the perfect way to finish off tonightโ€™s included dinner!

Rome, capital city of Italy, is known as the โ€œeternal cityโ€, also as โ€œCaput Mundiโ€, which means capital of the world in Latin. It has more than 280 fountains and more than 900 churches. The coins that are thrown in the Fontana di Trevi are donated to a catholic charity.
