  • Day 1 Bucharest โ€“ Prejmer โ€“ Viscri - Sighisoara

      9.00 AM. In the morning meet with our private tour guide at your hotel or address in Bucharest. 

      Weโ€™ll depart towards Transilvania region, the biggest and the most popular region for tourism.

      Weโ€™ll cross the Carpathians Mountains via the Prahova River Valley. We can admire the beauty of the mountain scenery and the small cozy mountain towns along the route.

      We will start our visiting program with one of the majestic UNESCO sights โ€“ the Prejmer fortified church. During your visit youโ€™ll be explained the reason and the huge role which these type of structures had in Transylvania.

       

      Next weโ€™ll drive to one of the most charming Transylvanian villages โ€“ Viscri. The village preserves the authentic architecture of the houses, old way of life, traditions and crafts. It is considered a great sample of the Saxon / German Heritage of Transylvania. Enjoy a walk through the village and visit the Viscri Fortified church (UNESCO)

       

      Weโ€™ll continue heading to Sighisoara. On the route weโ€™ll see from the road the impressive Rupea Fortress, built in 14th century. It is known as a Peasant Fortress, had an important role in the Transylvanian administration due the Middle-Age. Today it impresses with its top hill position and powerful fortified walls.

       Next weโ€™ll pass Through the Saschiz village, also an UNESCO site hosting two impressive monuments:

      The Saschiz Church. Built in 1493 in Gothic style it is one of the nicest old churches from Transylvania. The complex was surrounded by a powerful defensive wall, the perimeter of which is today marked by a fence.[1] The only surviving portion is the northern tower, which was fitted with a prominent spire in 1677

       Saschiz Peasant Fortress. Was built in the 14th century and it is also called "the Giants castle" following a local legend.

       In the afternoon weโ€™ll arrive at Sighisoara (UNESCO), the best preserved medieval town of Transylvania. The main sights: Clock Tower and History Museum, Birth place of Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), Covered stairs, Church on the Hill, towers and fortifications. Enjoy a walk on the narrow streets paved with river stones.

      There is no better place to stay overnight during an UNESCO tour, than in a medieval town, included in the UNESCO Heritages List โ€“ Sighisoara.

  • Day 2 Sighisoara โ€“ Biertan โ€“ Sibiu โ€“ Alba Iulia

      Breakfast. 8.30 AM departure. Today we have a lot to see and weโ€™ll start driving on a very scenic rural area. Admire the beauty of the Transylvanian green rolling hills and the old charming Saxon villages scattered among the hills and valleys. Almost all the villages in the south of Transylvania had a type of fortification to protect the local community. Weโ€™ll visit the Biertan village, an important trade centre in Middle Age and the Biertan fortified church (UNESCO site), built in 15-16th century. Here was the headquarter of the Evangelical Bishops for about 300 years. 

      Next visit: the old city of Sibiu, a candidate to be included in the UNESCO list and a former European Capital of Cultures.  it was the biggest medieval town of Transylvania and today is one of the most popular tourist sights. Highlights: Big Square, Little Square, Orthodox and Lutheran-Evangelical Cathedrals, Liars bridge, medieval wall, etc. Sibiu is a vibrant city with a charming old town and a walk will reveal parts of the local history and culture. It is considered one of the European most romantic places to live and visit.

      Our route will continue towards at Alba Iulia, a town having its origins in the ancient time, founded by the Romans under the name Apulum. Weโ€™ll visit the ruins of the Roman castrum (2nd century), medieval fortifications (16th century) and the Vauban type fortifications (18th century). Alba iulia has a great place in Romanian history as here was proclaimed the Union of all the Romanian regions in a single country. Weโ€™ll visit the Union museum and Reunion Cathedral. Another highlight of the city is the Catholic Cathedral, one of the oldest religious buildings from Transylvania.

      The town oldโ€™s citadel it is also on the preliminary list for UNESCO recognition.

      In the evening return to Sighisoara.

  • Day 3 Sighisoara โ€“ Bran Castle โ€“ Brasov โ€“ Bucharest

      Breakfast. 8.30 AM departure from the hotel.

      First visit of the day will be at the famous Bran castle. Also called Dracula`s Castle, the castle got its fame from Dracula`s legend written in 1897 by Bram Stoker and later on made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola.. The first documents about Bran Castle appeared in 1377. 

      After the Bran Castle visit you can spend some time for souvenirs shopping and then leave

      Next visit: the Historical Town of Brasov, The main sites are: Council Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weaverโ€™s Bastion and Ecaterinaโ€™s Gate, The Ropeโ€™s street, etc. The city of Brasov has its origins back to 13th century and it was one of the most important trade centres and one of the most fortified towns. Part of the medieval buildings can still be seen in our tour.

      Weโ€™ll continue back to Bucharest. Optional. Possible quick stop at Peles Castle, former royal residence of the Romanian Kings.

      In the late afternoon / evening weโ€™ll arrive at Bucharest. Drop-off at your hotel / address in the city.
