From the old town of Tui you will be walking uphill along El Camino de Barca. When youโ€™re out of Tui, you will pass the Tunel das Monxas and continue up to the beautiful bridge of San Telmo. From here on the terrain becomes a little easier on your way to O Porriño. Today´s hike will be 32 km (7 hours) long.

Todayโ€™s walk is around 19 km (4-5 hours). On your way you will be passing many churches and monuments, among them The Church of Santa Maria de Caldas with foundations from the 13th century. In the beautiful area of Tibo, youโ€™ll find the church of Saint Tomás Becket, a pilgrim who made a stop in Caldas in the year of 1167 - remind you you are following an incredible history. It is here where, according to legend, St. James’s bodily remains were brought by boat in the year 44 AC by two of his disciples. From this sacred place his body was brought to Santiago de Compostela. On your way to Padrón you will get to see some of the famous old water mills, churches, and beautiful scenery. In Northern Spain eating is almost a ritual ceremony, and Padrón is no exception to this. Try the Pimientos de Padrón, a little green pepper served fried and salted, simple and delicious.

Here, you can attend the Pilgrim’s Mass and enjoy the city of Santiago and its small streets full of restaurants and bars. Feel the history - and the thousands of pilgrims’ histories - which for many years has been building the bridge between the ancient and the modern Santiago. Have a well-earned rest in Santiago.
