Itinerary of your trip Picturesque Pokhara Tour-Day Tour

  • Day 1 Day 1: Pokhara
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Pokhara

Nestled in the lap of the Annapurna range, Pokhara is a serene city known for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil lakes. Perfect for a one-day tour, the Alpine Club of Himalaya offers an itinerary that captures the essence of Pokharaโ€™s nature and culture.

      1. Phewa Lake

Start your day at Phewa Lake, the second-largest lake in Nepal. Surrounded by lush hills and the majestic Himalayas, the lakeโ€™s tranquil waters reflect the changing colors of the sky. You can stroll along the lakeside, enjoying the aesthetic calmness, or visit the eastern shore to explore various restaurants and pubs. Donโ€™t miss a boat ride to the Tal Barahi Temple, located on a small island in the lake. This important religious site is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and offers a peaceful retreat.

      2. Deviโ€™s Fall and Gupteshwar Cave

Next, visit Deviโ€™s Fall, locally known as Paatal Ko Chango, meaning "Underworldโ€™s Waterfall." This charming waterfall is located about 2 km southwest of Pokhara Airport on the Siddhartha Highway. Near the waterfall, explore the Gupteshwar Cave, a sacred cave with a preserved phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The cave network is mysterious and offers a unique experience as it also receives water from Deviโ€™s Fall.

      3. Bindhyabasini Temple

Visit the Bindhyabasini Temple, the oldest religious shrine in Pokhara, built in the 16th century. The main shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga, and it attracts many Hindu worshippers, especially on Saturdays.

      4. Mahendra and Chameri Caves

Head towards Mahendra Cave, a rare cave system in Nepal containing stalagmites and stalactites. Discovered in the 1950s by local shepherds, this cave, formerly known as โ€˜Adhero Bhawanโ€™ (Dark Habitat), offers a unique exploration experience. Nearby is the Chameri Cave, also known as Bat Cave. This U-shaped limestone cave is home to various species of bats and features carvings of Hindu deities.

      5. Seti Gandaki Gorge

The Seti Gandaki Gorge is a deep, narrow chasm carved by the river through the middle of Pokhara. The best view of the gorge is from Mahendra Pul, a small bridge in the city center. The milky waters of the river cut through the landscape, offering a breathtaking sight.

      6. World Peace Pagoda

Perched atop Anadu Hill at 1100 meters, the World Peace Pagoda, also known as Shanti Stupa, offers spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Phewa Lake, and Pokhara City. This Buddhist shrine, standing 115 feet tall and 344 feet in diameter, is a symbol of peace.

      7. Old Bazaar

Conclude your tour with a visit to the Old Bazaar, located just 4 km from Phewa Lake. This traditional marketplace is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. The temples and monuments here reflect the Newari architecture of the Kathmandu Valley and retain much of their original charm.

Pokhara, with its blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, offers a perfect one-day getaway to explore and enjoy the splendor of nature and tradition.
