After savoring your first breakfast in the worldโ€™s happiest nation, youโ€™ll embark on a drive to visit Bhutanโ€™s oldest monastery, Pangri Zampa. Built in the 16th century, this monastery has evolved into a school where young Buddhist monks study Lamaism and astrology grounded in Buddhist philosophy.

Next on the itinerary is a visit to the Bhutan Heritage Museum, a showcase of ancient Bhutanese architecture, slowly fading in the shadow of modernization. Another highlight is the Institute for Zorig Chusum, also known as the Arts & Crafts School or Painting School. Later in the day, youโ€™ll explore Tashichho Dzong, known as the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion." This structure serves as the nexus of government and religion in Bhutan, housing the kingโ€™s throne room and administrative offices. Originally constructed in 1641 by Bhutanโ€™s unifier, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong underwent a traditional Bhutanese reconstruction in the 1960s, notable for its absence of nails and architectural plans.
