      In the morning, the mighty power of the earth awaits you in Waimangu Valley. On a hike you will see bubbling mud holes and colorful lake terraces created by underground volcanism (easy, 2-4 km, walking time: approx. 2 hrs. +/- 115 vertical meters). Later, explore more sulfur pools by boat and then drive to Tongariro National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), whose heart is formed by three volcanoes. 1 night there. (F)

      Day 8: Wellington

      After a half-day drive, you will reach Wellington. New Zealandโ€™s capital has a maritime charm and is not called "Windy City" for nothing. Spend your free time, for example, at the harbor or in the worth seeing Te-Papa Museum. In the evening, a safari on foot awaits you in the protected area Zealandia, where you may be lucky to see kiwis by the light of a flashlight (with local English-speaking guide). 1 night in Wellington.       The Inter-Islander ferry takes you on one of the most beautiful crossings in the world. In three hours you will pass the Marlborough Sounds, a peninsula crisscrossed with waterways and fjords. An excellent Sauvignon Blanc is also pressed here, which you will taste in the afternoon. 2 nights in Nelson. (F)

      Day 10: Nelson

      Enjoy your free day in and around Nelson. If you like, you can book an optional excursion to the Abel Tasman National Park, which you will reach by bus and water cab. The park is known for its sparkling turquoise waters. On the coastal hiking trail you will take a hike to the sandy beach of Anchorage (easy, 10 km, approx. 4 hrs, +/- 150 hm). On the way, cross the suspension bridge over River Falls. (optional, 120 NZD, bookable locally,without guide). (F)

  • Day 10 Day 11: Pancake Rock

      Day 11: Pancake Rock

      Along the west coast, youโ€™ll gaze in wonder at the wild Tasman Sea and stroll to a small seal colony during a stop in Westport. Later, visit the Pancake Rocks in the heart of Paparoa National Park. The sea has shaped the limestone like layered pancakes. 1 night in Punkakaiki. (F)

      This amazingly deep glacier reaches almost into the rainforest zone. If you like, you can take an optional helicopter flight over the glacier (210 โ‚ฌ p.p., approx. 20 min., min. 3 pers., please book with your reservation). Not far from the glacier is the famous Lake Matheson, where in calm weather you can admire a perfect reflection of the mountain landscape in the water. 1 night at the glacier. (F)

      After breakfast you will drive to Queenstown. On the drive over the Haast Pass you will pass the glacial lakes Hawea and Wanaka. In Queenstown, a walk to Lake Wakatipu is recommended - the sunset behind the mountains overlooking the water is magnificent. 2 nights in Queenstown. (F)
