      We start our trip in Nepal with a visit to UNESCO heritage sites. The city has beautiful monuments such as Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Boudhanath Stupa. Be enchanted by the spectacular stupas that have an important religious and cultural value for the Tibetan form of Buddhism. Visit the museum, ancient courtyards and alleys of Patan to observe local artists painting gods and goddesses on canvas. This fascinating lakeside city is located approximately 210 km west of Kathmandu and is a highly sought-after tourist destination. The journey will be an amazing experience as you will drive along a powerful river for most of the way, through picturesque greenery on both sides of the road.       This day we drive to the World Peace Pagoda on the hilltop. We pray for peace and prosperity for everyone and then walk to Kalabang village. From this quaint village, on a clear day, you will have spectacular views of the Annapurna and the waters of Phewa Taal stretching to the surrounding hills.       Today the city of Pokhara is central. After a hearty breakfast we walk to Deviโ€™s waterfall, which gushes from the hills and disappears into a cave. Then we hike to Gupteshwor Cave, which consists of limestone deposits. Later in the evening we enjoy the beautiful day on the quiet Phewa Lake.       Now the journey goes to the southern plains. We drive to Chitwan, which takes about 5-6 hours. You will have free time and a welcome drink. The evening will be an educational experience for you as our nature guide gives a presentation about the flora and fauna of the Chitwan National Park.       Wake up to the sound of birds. On this day we explore the jungle of Chitwan National Park by tracking down a one-horned rhino with an expert local nature guide. If we are lucky we may catch a glimpse of the elusive Bengal tiger. Float on the Rapti River to observe exotic aquatic species along the river with stunning views of the Himalayan foothills. Enjoy the evening with an ethnic dance performance by the Tharu people.       After breakfast you will fly to Paro. You will meet a representative at the airport upon arrival and visit the impressive Rinpung Dzong Fortress. Then drive to Thimphu, the charming capital of Bhutan, stopping at the Tachog Lhakhang Temple along the way. After crossing Chunzom, the confluence of Paro and Thimphu rivers, you will reach Thimphu Valley where you will check into your hotel and visit Kuenselphodrang to see the huge Buddha Dordema statue and Thimphu Trashi Chho Dzong, the Buddhist monastery and fort that is the summer capital of the country and the seat of the current King of Bhutan.       In the morning we drive over the Dochu La Pass (3140 m) to see the Himalayan peaks bordering northern Bhutan, and visit the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (monastery). As we descend from the pass we see changes in the vegetation. Then we walk to Chhimi Lhakhang, the fertility shrine. Further on we visit Punakha Dzong, which lies between two rivers and serves as the winter shelter for the central monastic body and is historically important. Punakha was the capital of Bhutan from 1637 to 1907 and the dzong symbolizes a united Bhutan.       After breakfast you drive to Paro via Thimphu. Once in Paro, you will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the two oldest monasteries, built by the King of Tibet in the 7th century and considered the holiest monastery in Bhutan. Then drive north to see the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1649 to commemorate his victory over Tibetan forces. Although it was destroyed by fire and never rebuilt, on a clear day we can see Mount Chomolhari.       Paroโ€™s Taktsang Monastery, or Tigerโ€™s Nest, is a national treasure of Bhutan. It is located on a granite cliff, 800 meters above the valley. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, a famous Buddhist saint, flew to Paro on a tigress and meditated there. The walk takes about 2.5 hours and offers breathtaking views. The cafeteria, 1 hour up the road, offers panoramic views of the monastery. Those interested can walk another 45 minutes uphill for better views and lunch. The descent takes less than 1.5 hours.       Our plan is to return to Kathmandu by flight today and then travel to Bhaktapur, an ancient city with medieval art and architecture. It is also called the "city of the devotees" because of its great influence on religion, culture and tantrism. When we get there, we take a relaxing guided walk on Pottery Square, where traditional handicrafts are still made. The ancient method of spinning and firing clay pots is still used, contributing to Bhaktapurโ€™s thriving trade. If you wish, you can participate in the clay pot making process and learn about this intriguing process.
