The tour starts in the morning. Visit the 5th century rock fortress of Sigiriya, built during King Kassapa's reign (477-495 AD). The hard-to-reach monolith rises 180m above the tropical landscape. Be fascinated by the remains of artificial gardens, as well as the famous mural "Cloud Girl". In the upper part the rock has the shape of a resting lion, of which only the mighty paws are left. At the foot of the rock fortress there were trenches, which could be flooded in case of an attack. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at Sigiriya including breakfast the next morning. Drive from Sigiriya to Dambulla. The cave temple of Dambulla was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC and comprises five caves under a widely overhanging rock. In 1938, the structure was provided with colonnades and gables. Inside, the caves are decorated with numerous Buddha statues and decorated with wall paintings of religious content. Drive on to Matale, where you will visit a spice garden. Get to know the spices that Sri Lanka is so famous for. Drive from Matale to Kandy. Kandy was the last royal city of the Sri Lankan kings. The name 'Kandy' conjures up visions of splendor and glory. Many of the legends and traditions are still lovingly preserved. The famous Temple of the Tooth is located on Lake Kandy, built by the last king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. In Kandy, you can also visit the bazaar, a craft center, a gemstone museum, and the well-known Kandy dances. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay in Kandy including breakfast the next morning. The temple has a history of about 2000 years and was known as Kumbaltissa Ariyagala Vehera in the time of King Walagamba. Overnight stay in Tissamaharama including breakfast the next morning. Drive to Galle. Galle was once the main port of Ceylon and is a city steeped in history. It was the center of the Dutch government in the 17th century. The city is also known for its fine handmade lace work and deep black wood carvings. Proceed to your beach hotel in Kalutara. Dinner at the hotel.
