Itinerary of your trip Ten Day Sun And Sand Safari

  • Day 1 Day 1: Nairobi - Ol Pejeta Conservancy
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 1: Nairobi - Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Youโ€™ll depart from Nairobi after breakfast for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Located at the foot of snow-capped Mt. Kenya, this 360 square kilometre park is sometimes known as Sweet Waters.

Not only is the park home to the entirety of the Big Five, but it also contains a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees - making it one of the few places in East Africa where it is possible to see the Big Five and these fascinating primates in the same place.

The Sweet Waters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the conservancyโ€™s biggest drawcard. Started in 1993 with an initial group of three chimpanzees, the sanctuary has grown considerably in the years since. Youโ€™ll enjoy lunch at the chimpanzee sanctuary as well as meeting Baraka, a tame rhinoceros who calls the conservancy home. Youโ€™ll finish off your day with an evening game drive in the park.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Lake Nakuru National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Lake Nakuru National Park

Youโ€™ll set off after breakfast for your trek to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley.

Formerly famous for its flamingos, the park is now better known for its large herds of buffalo and the presence of both the black and white rhinoceros.

Youโ€™ll enjoy a hot lunch at your lodge before taking an afternoon game drive along the shores of the lake to spot baboons, buffalo, lions, leopards, eland, waterbucks, and more.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park - Maasai Mara
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park - Maasai Mara

Youโ€™ll depart from Lake Nakuru after breakfast for the drive south to Kenyaโ€™s most famous park: the Maasai Mara.

Part of the vast Serengeti plains, the Maasai Mara plays host to a chapter of the famous Wildebeest Migration each year as 1.7 million wildebeest and more than 500,000 zebras and antelopes cross the swollen Mara River in hopes of finding safety on the Masai Maraโ€™s sweeping plains. Even when the Wildebeest Migration is not occuring, youโ€™ll still have the chance to see the entire Big Five as well as Kenyaโ€™s largest variety of animal life.

After lunch at your lodge, youโ€™ll head out for an afternoon and sunset game drive in search of big cats, elephants, giraffes, and more.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Maasai Mara
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Maasai Mara

Wake before the dawn for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a Maasai Mara sunrise. After a quick cup of coffee, youโ€™ll head out into the park to watch as the sun sets fire to the savannah and the big cats take advantage of the morning cool to search for a meal.

Alternatively, you can take to the skies with a hot air balloon safari that will see you soar above all of the action before setting down on the plains for a champagne breakfast among the wildlife. Ask your safari expert about adding a hot air balloon adventure to your safari.

Youโ€™ll then return to your lodge for a late breakfast before packing a picnic lunch and heading back out into the park for a day-long exploration of the Maasai Mara. You may also opt to relax at your lodge in the morning, enjoy lunch on site, and then head out again in the afternoon once the weather has cooled off a bit.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Maasai Mara - Mombasa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Maasai Mara - Mombasa

Weโ€™ll bid farewell to the Maasai Mara after breakfast and head back to Nairobi for your flight to Mombasa.

Itโ€™s a day of travel, but the reward when you arrive at your beachside hotel in time for dinner and a sneaky sundowner ought to make up for it.
