Day 2: Traverse The Street Of Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley certainly has been the cornerstone of various cultures, religions, and artistic antiquities. These diverse ethnicities have made it the UNESCO World Heritage Site with seven conserved locations. Our tour guide will take you to three such places. We will begin from Kathmandu Durbar Square or Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square. We will proceed towards Swayambhunath Stupa, and then attending Pashupatinath temple, we will conclude the journey visiting Boudhanath stupa.

Kathmandu Durbar Square โ€“ This is the station where the kings of Nepal were crowned for centuries. Kathmandu Durbar Square has approximately 60 temples, the traditional royal palace along with being home of the famous Kumari, the living goddess which you may have a timeliness to see. Most of the temples here date back several hundred years, and therefore, the temples are protected as national heritage sites.

Swayambhunath Stupa โ€“ Probably the most heavenly place in the Kathmandu Valley is also the most antiquated holy site. Situated on a prominence overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, Swayambhu is over 2500 years old. Despite being mostly a Buddhist holy place, it is also a unique synergy of Buddhism and Hinduism, as you will only find in Nepal.

Pashupatinath โ€“ Situated on the banks of a sacred Bagmati River, this is the most pious Hindu shrine in all of Nepal and one of the most saintly in all of Hinduism. Here you will find many temples here along with gurus and babas teaching and praying. Besides, there are many sacred Ghats or cremation sites where faithful Hindus are cremated, ensuring them a better life in the next reincarnation.

Bouddhanath โ€“ It is the largest Buddhist stupa in Asia (and third largest in the world), is home to the largest Tibetan refugee community in Nepal. This place is a haven to Buddhist monasteries where you will see authentic Tibetan Buddhism is practiced.

Finally, we will take you to your hotel room for you to enjoy the evening in your terms.

As this hiking path inside the dense forest is relatively newer, we have little to no food joints to trade for foods. Thus, we have to carry food the whole time. But speaking of the brighter side as this route is newly opened for trekking; it offers the flawless beauty of nature. We will lodge in a small tea house as there are a limited number of hotels available. Still, the food is fantastic to appease your hunger after a hectic climbing.
