  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu Transfer To Hotel.

      On arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be met at the airport by a representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking who will take you to your 3-star hotels. You can relax at your hotel or wander around Thamel and do some last-minute shopping and take in the sights. In the evening there will be a welcome dinner and a short briefing.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Drive From Kathmandu To Sotikhola (730M) Duration 7-8 Hours.

      We will either take a public bus or car, stopping along the way for a lunch break. Tonight we will stay at Soti Khola near the river.

      Our trek today follows a mule track and ascends on an amazing path cut into the face of the cliff, then descends to Lapubesi (880m). Care is required here! We then continue to Nauli Khola, crossing a suspension bridge on the way and then take the trail on the banks of the Budi Gandaki River before reaching Machha Khola (900m). This, so happens to be where many trekkers were trapped after the earthquake in 2015 and had to be rescued, Depending on present conditions on the trail, there is an alternative overnight stop in Kashi Gaun located on the east side of the river.

      Today we follow the river to Khorlabesi and the therapeutic hot springs at Tatopani (meaning hot water) (930m), and then continue along the east bank of the Budi Gandaki River to Doban, Thulo Dunga and Yara Bagar (1370m). The trail zigzags across the river with a number of suspension bridges to cross before reaching the entrance gate to Manaslu Conservation Area - and Jagat (1410m) with its distinctive flagstone village square. Permits are checked by authorities. Your guide will check that the trail is passable and may suggest we take another route on a much higher path on the east side of the river before descending to the old trail near Doban.

      Today we head off on a 6 hour trek, first reaching Salleri where we have magnificent views of Mount Sringi before descending to Sirdibas, a traditional Buddhist village. The trail continues until we reach Lokpa Village, just north of Philim and then go through Ekle Bhatti and climb to a ridge along a trail through a pine forest. We come to a junction where we take the trail in the direction of Tsum Valley. We stay the night at Lokpa.

      Today we have a 5-hour trek to Tsum Valley. The first sights of Tsum Valley appear as we descend down the mountain to Chumling Village. We then ascend to Ripchet and shortly after reaching the authentic Buddhist village of Chumling, well known for its ancient monastery, customary Tibetan style houses, prayer flags, Mani walls, and its stone-paved streets. We stay here overnight.

      Today we head out on a 5 hour trek, firstly crossing a suspension bridge where we have startling views of the Ganesh Himal. The trail continues and takes us past the village of Rainjam and across the Seru Khola (river) before coming to Gho Village. We eventually reach our destination of Chokhangparo Village from where we have views of Himalchuli (7893m) and Ganesh Himal (7140m). We stay here overnight.

      Todayโ€™s trek of 6 to 7 hours follows the trail to Rachen Gompa and then to the Shir Khola (river). Prior to arriving at Nile we will visit the Milarepa Piren Cave, a place where the sage Milarepa was said to meditate. After leaving the river we pass by Phurbe and Pangdun villages before coming to Nile Village where we stay the night. Mu Gompa is the largest monastery in the region and the highest point in the Tsum Valley.

      A short trek along the west side of the valley near to the Tibetan border takes us to Mu Gompa, the highest point of the Tsum valley trek. We head up through yak pastures and through a dry and arid terrain. The monastery has rows of chortens and gorgeous mountain views. The historical Dhephyudonma monastery goes back to the early days of Buddhism and is run by Lamas. It is one of the oldest monasteries in the Tsum region.

      Today we head back down the valley to Chhule and as far as Phurbe. We follow the trail along the east bank of the Siyar Khola (river) and cross flat boulder-covered plains until we reach Rachen Gompa (3240m) where we have an opportunity to look around this ancient Gompa in the company of the friendly nuns and monks.

      Today we cross a river then pass through the village of Chhokang Paro where we then have to descend to Chumling. Prior to arriving at Chumling we come to a white monastery and then head down to the Siyar Khola (river), an ideal place to rest and refresh. We stay at Chumling for the night.

      Today we have a long 7to 8-hour trek and the first thing we have to descend from Chumling to Lokpa after crossing a suspension bridge. The trail follows a rocky ridge where we have a great view of Sringi Himal. We then pass through Ghatta Khola passing by farms growing maize, millet, potatoes, and vegetables. We then continue along the trail beside the Budhi Gandaki River passing through a bamboo forest before coming to the Deng River. Tonight we stay at Deng next to the river.

      Today we climb above the Tom Khola (river) to Longa Chuta and then come into an enchanting fir and rhododendron forest filled with birds and Langur monkeys located on the north side of the Buri Gandaki River. We then cross over to the other side of the river before arriving at Namrung (2660m), an earlier customs post in the days when this was a route for transporting salt from Tibet. Namrung also suffered widespread damage from the 2015 earthquake, but today it has been restored to its earlier charm.

      Along the trail today we have stunning views of Sringi and Ganesh Himal. The trail leading from the village of Namrung is where you will see predominantly Tibetan villages with their sacred symbols and monasteries. We will pass through forests and farmlands where barley is grown on the terraced hillsides. The trail starts to expose the massive peak of Manaslu right up to Lho Gham Village where we stay the night. In the morning we have an opportunity of capturing the mountain views from our lodge or the Gompa.

      Today we head through several Tibetan villages and past a number of Gompas. After a 4 hour trek, we reach Samagaun where we will stop and relax while getting used to the higher altitudes. We can explore the village and enjoy the friendly smiling faces of the villagers. The architecture here is clearly Tibetan and their costumes reflect their Tibetan origins. We can also take a short trek up to a Gompa above the town or wander the streets and talk with the locals โ€“ a very moving experience. Tonight we stay at Samagaun.

      It is necessary to get acclimatized, for at least one day, before climbing to higher altitudes. Health specialists recommend that you move about and donโ€™t sit idly. An ideal way to stay active is to explore the Gompa at Pugyen (4070m), a one day trek that leaves the trail between Syaula and Sama. It is also possible for you to carry on up this valley to the rough rocks and terrain of the Pugin glacier. Another option is a trip to the lake at Birendra Tal (3450m) and even a physically demanding ascent to Manaslu Base Camp (4900m). It is believed that north of Birendra Tal is Milarepaโ€™s Cave (famous Buddha) said to have been used as a meditation retreat by the Buddhist saint.

      Today we descend and head back to the Buri Gandaki River passing the junction of Birendra Tal and Manaslu Base Camp. The valley then widens before coming to Kermo Khadka and then continues to the white Kani Gateway - the entrance to Samdo (3860m). We may also trek to the peak above the village for striking views of Mount Manaslu. If it is necessary to further acclimatize, there is a 6 to 7-hour trek climbing 640m to the moraine of the Fukang Glacier, where you will enjoy far-reaching views towards several passes traversed by locals to cross over into Tibet.

      The trail today crosses several ridges and then over wooden bridges across the Budi Gandaki River. After crossing two rivers we come to Larkya Glacier and then ascend to Larke Phedi (4450m) before heading to Dharamsala for the night.

      Todayโ€™s trek begins with a short climb to the north side of Larkya Glacier. From this vantage point we have exceptional views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The climb to the Larkya La (5100m) pass is a gradual ascent but then becomes steeper as we reach the pass. After arriving at the top of the pass we have some amazing panoramic views of several mountain ranges. The descent from the pass is equally physically hard. We soon arrive at Bhimthang where we stay the night in a tent.

      Today we have some incredible views of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal and Cheo Himal along with views to the valley and forests below. We cross the Dudh Khola (river) and trek through the rhododendron forests and past the village of Karche (2785m) which is the highest farmland in the region. We stop for a short break at Gho Village before making our way to our overnight destination, Tilje.

      Today we follow a rocky trail, then across a ridge and through Tibetan villages before descending to the Marsyangdi Valley and further on to Dharapani where we connect with the regular Annapurna trail. We pass through Karte Village and cross the Marsyangdi Khola (river) passing Mani walls and then we enter the village of Tal before finally reaching Chamje where we stay overnight.

      Today we drive back by public transport or private vehicle to Kathmandu following the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers and through Besisahar Village, the district headquarter of Lamjung Province. This evening in Kathmandu we have a celebration dinner catered for by Sherpa Expedition & Trekking where we can look back on our journey into this remote and unspoiled region of Nepal. Tonight we stay at a hotel near Thamel in Kathmandu.
