Welcome To Nepal And Drive To Bhaktapur

After flying individually outside from Nepal the day before, we reach the Nepalese capital Kathmandu today. Depending on the time of arrival, there is still some time to relax or to visit the former royal city for the first time before we have dinner together at around 6:30 p.m. We are welcomed again, receive up-to-date information about the upcoming tour and get to know the other fellow travelers.

Note: Please note that the international flight to/from Kathmandu (KTM) is not included in the tour price. This can be booked individually or via Worldwide Hiking - we will be happy to make you an offer after receipt of the booking and on request.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Royal City Of Bhaktapur

This morning we visit the former royal city of Bhaktapur, together with our guide. He opens the gates to the "City of the Faithful", which is also considered the capital of the performing arts of Nepal due to its numerous music and cultural groups. The old town consists of narrow, winding streets with many small shops, in between flower garlands and statues of gods decorated in red paint. Again and again large, magnificent squares with palaces and temples are in front of us. Exquisite, detailed wood carvings on and in the temples and on many traditional houses, handicraft shops and shops take us into another time. We visit the Durbar Square (Kingโ€™s Square), with the golden entrance gate to the Royal Palace. We continue leisurely to Taumadhi Square and its highlight, the Nyatopola Temple, at 30 meters high it is the highest temple in the entire Kathmandu Valley. Not far from the temple is also the famous Peacock Window, a unique wooden window carved in great detail. Passing many small shops, we continue to the pottery square, where hand-made pottery is laid out to dry.

The afternoon is at leisure to further explore Bhaktapurโ€™s sprawling pedestrian precinct. But if you want, you can also have a cup of tea or coffee and explore the offers of the richly stocked arts and crafts shops.
