  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival To Cusco And City Tour
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 1: Arrival To Cusco And City Tour

Upon your arrival at the Cusco airport, our team will be waiting for you. We will be happy to welcome you and assist you in picking up your luggage. Then we will drive you in our van over to your hotel in the Historic Center of Cusco. At your hotel there will be natural teas available free of charge. Teas like muรฑa and coca are delicious and help to counteract the effects of altitude. They also help the body to acclimate to the elevation of Cusco.

In the afternoon at 1 pm, City tour. This tour begins at the iconic Cusco Cathedral. This church contains over 400 paintings from the Cusco School of Fine Arts. There is also an impressive collection of colonial art which includes Marcos Zapataโ€™s representation of the Last Supper of Christ with a cuy (guinea pig) featured as the main dish.

Next we will visit the Incan Temple of the Sun, the Coricancha. Historians tell us that a pilgrim could only enter the Coricancha barefoot, after fasting, and with a heavy load on his back to show his humility. Before the arrival of the Spanish, the walls of the Temple were covered with gold. The stonework here is all handmade and is of the very highest quality. The walls were covered with sheets of pure gold that was 3 meters high. The roof was made of the finest straw. During Incan times this was the most important religious site in their empire (Tahuantinsuyo.)

Next we will head out of the city and up to the immense Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. This impressive fortress is located north of the city. It is built of gigantic cut blocks of stone. Some of the blocks weigh more than 100 tons. This is an excellent example of Incan military architecture. The fortress took more than 70 years to complete. These fabulous walls amaze everyone who comes here to contemplate them.

Then we will go to the mysterious Incan site of Qenco. This carved limestone formation is full of subterranean passages and decorated with mythical figures. In addition we will visit the Baths of the Incas, Tambo Machay. There you can find venders of arts and crafts. You will have the opportunity to buy sweaters made of the wool of baby alpacas. There will also be ceramics, silver jewelry, and handmade goods fabricated by the local folks. This is a great chance to buy some inexpensive souvenirs for your family and for your loved ones at home.

You can coordinate the exact time of your city tour with your guide. We can pick you up and drop you off at your hotel or at your favorite restaurant. The whole tour lasts between 5 and 30 minutes.

Day 2: Tour Of The Sacred Valley And Connection To The Town Of Aguas Calientes

In the morning, after a delicious breakfast, we will begin our tour of the fascinating Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will be accompanied by our expert local guide as we create unique and unforgettable experiences. This is a full day tour on which we will visit the most important sites in the Sacred Valley. We will go to the Pisaq Archeological Park and to the towns of Pisaq, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo. Along the way we will be able to enjoy the best of Cuscoยดs cuisine at one of the most exclusive restaurants in the Sacred Valley.

At 8:00 am. we will journey in our van private vehicle to Awanacancha which is an exhibit center for South American camelids and Andean weavings. Awanacancha is a living museum that is dedicated to maintaining the traditional methods and age old techniques of Andean weaving, and of rearing South American camelids.

Then we will go down to Pisaq where weยดll make a brief stop at local crafts market. There you will see an amazing array of handmade goods. Next we will go up to Pisaq Archeological Center. This Incan site had every indispensible basic service. There are Andean terraces, irrigation canals, drinking water fountains, homes, religious and ceremonial sites, and a cemetery.

Finishing up our visit to Pisaq, we will head down the Valley to Urubamba. This is where we will enjoy our delicious lunch at one of the premier restaurants in the Sacred Valley. After lunch we will continue on to Ollantaytambo. Here we can pass a peaceful afternoon at the great Incan fortress which was built during the Imperial Period, i.e., between the reigns of the Incas Pachacรบtec and Wayna Capac. This period encompassed just three generations of Incan rulers.

After touring the fortress, our guide will immediately take us over to Ollantaytambo train station. There we will catch our train to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo.) When we arrive there, our team will lead us over to our hotel where we can rest up after an adventure packed day.

Important: The visit to Awanacancha is only available in private service tours. If you choose to travel in regular group service, you will not be able to visit the exposition center at Awanacancha. (We hope you understand).
