This tour includes:

Meals

Standard twin sharing accommodation in a two or three-star hotel in Kathmandu including breakfast. Standard twin sharing accommodation in Nepalgunj included breakfast. Tented camp accommodation and equipment during the camping trek. (We will provide two-man tents, dining tents, kitchen gear, dining table, chairs, toilet tents, shower tent).

Trekking Permits for Lower Dolpo Restricted Area. Comprehensive medical supplies (first aid kit will be available). Arrangement of emergency helicopter service (paid by your Travel Insurance Company). Use of sleeping bag, down jacket, duffel bag and walking poles (if you donโ€™t have your own, to be returned after trip completed). Sherpa Expedition and Trekking T-shirt Government taxes and official expenses. Lower Dolpo Trekking map, one in a group. Oxygen meter to check your pulse and oxygen saturation and heart rate twice daily (Very useful to check Altitude Mountain Sickness(AMS) symptoms) which will ensure your health during the trek. Assistant guide for groups of 8 or more people.

An experienced, helpful, and friendly Government license holder trekking guide.

Optional

The required number of local staff, porters and Yaks, or Jhopkey (Strong Animal similar to Yak) to carry your luggage during the trek.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival At Kathmandu Transfer To Hotel.

      On your arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by Sherpa Expedition and trekking staff and transferred to your respective hotels followed by a briefing regarding your Dolpo trek, hotels,

  • Day 2 Day 2: Fly From Kathmandu To Nepalgunj.

      Day 2: Fly From Kathmandu To Nepalgunj.

      Today we will take a 50 minute afternoon flight to Nepalgunj located in Nepalโ€™s distant south west. We will spend our first night here at the hub of commerce in Western Nepal.


  • Day 3 Day 3: Fly From Nepalgunj To Juphal & Trek To Dunai (2150M) 5-6 Hours.

      Day 3: Fly From Nepalgunj To Juphal & Trek To Dunai (2150M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today we have a 35 minutes flight to Juphal where our trekking begins. The trail descends and winds through local villages and passes Roop Ghar with its distinct water mill until we reach the village of Dunai (2150m). Dunai has a village school, police check post, and some government offices.


  • Day 4 Day 4: Trek To Tarakot (2540M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today we follow along the banks of the Bheri River and pass several small villages with Buddhist monasteries, Mani stones, and cultivated farmland. Tarakot was once the capital of Tichorung, an ancient independent kingdom. Most of the inhabitants of Tarakot are of the Magar caste and practice Tibetan Buddhism. 


  • Day 5 Day 5: Trek To Laini Odar (3375M) 4-5 Hours.

      A trek of around five hours takes us via Laisicap (2775m) and Kanigaon (2950m) before arriving at Laini Odar. Along the trail, you can expect to see the Himalayan Mountains of Putha, Hiunchuli, and Churen Himal. Tonight we camp at Laini Odar close to the waterfall.


  • Day 6 Day 6: Trek To Nawarpani (3,475M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today you can expect to have fantastic views of Chhyugar (3440m) and Toltol (3530m) as we trek through deep gorges with towering cliffs above us. Tonight we stay at Nawarpani.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Trek To Dho Tarap (3950M) 6-7 Hours.

      For six to seven hours we follow the trail along the banks of Tarap Khola (river) via Ghyamghar and Langa villages. We continue until we come to Dho Tarap, which is a typical village found in this region. Dho Tarap sits high above a wide valley and was once a renowned trading post for traders coming from Tibet and Mustang. Tonight we camp at Dho Tarap.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Acclimatization Day At Dho Tarap.

      Today we can rest a little but should also as stay active in order to better acclimatize. We can wander around Dho Tarap and visit the 1000-year-old Ringo Bumpa Monastery built by Jigme Nyima Gyaltsen and Lama Tenzing Tragye to ward off evil spirits roving the region. Near to Dho Tarap are other monasteries, such as the Mekhyim Monastery, Dhoro Monastery, and the Bon Gompa monastery Shipichowk. Health officials strongly recommend you stay active while acclimatizing to better prepare you for trekking at higher altitudes.


  • Day 9 Day 9: Trek To Numa La Base Camp (4350M) 4-5 Hours.

      Today we have a four to five-hour trek via the Crystal Mountain School, past the health post, and then to Tokyu Village (4209m). There are some incredible views over the local monastery of Sharing Gompa that is home to many monks from around this region. Tonight we will stay at Numa La Base Camp.


  • Day 10 Day 10: Trek To Danighar(4510M) Via Numa La Pass(5310M) 6-7 Hours.

      We have a six to seven-hour physically challenging trek as we head to Numa La Pass where we have stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Norbu Kang, and Churen Himal. Tonight we stay at Numa La Pass. 

  • Day 11 Day 11: Trek To Temche (4000M) Via Baga La Pass (5170M) 5-6 Hours.

      Todayโ€™s trek is also a challenge as we again head up through a high pass. The trail is quite steep up to Baga La Pass from where we can see Norbung Lang Peak and the turquoise blue Phoksundo Lake. We will stay here the night at Temche just below the pass.  

  • Day 12 Day 12: Trek To Phoksundo (3600M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today we initially descend to Yak Kharka before ascending to Ringmo and on the trail pass through forests of juniper, pine and cypress before arriving at the startling blue Phoksundo Lake. We will stay here the night right next to the lake.

  • Day 13 Day 13: Explore Phoksundo Lake.

      Phoksundo Lake amazingly never freezes despite the high altitude. From the lake we can look down on the typical Tibetan Ringmo Village. Looking upward from the lake you have a view of several glaciers. There are also several Bon monasteries to visit while staying here.

  • Day 14 Day 14: Trek To Chhepka (2,838M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today we follow an undulating trail to Chunuwar and Recchi as we head through birch, pine and bamboo forests leaving Phoksundo Lake behind us. Tonight we will stay at Chhepka.


  • Day 15 Day 15: Trek To Jhupal (2,499M) 5-6 Hours.

      We trek for about five to six hours today via the villages of Shyanta and Khangadanda and pass along the trail many cultivated fields of barley and wheat until we arrive at Juphal where we stay the night. Juphal has a large vibrant market that is worth a wander around.


  • Day 16 Day 16: Fly To Kathmandu Via Nepalgunj

      Today we fly from Jhupal to Nepalgunj and then back to Kathmandu where you will be taken to your hotel. For the remainder of the day, you are free to wander around Thamel and maybe do some last-minute shopping or head to a cafรฉ of the bar to celebrate the completion of this incredible journey to Lower Dolpo. 

  • Day 17 Day 17: Final Departure From Kathmandu.

      Your adventure in Nepal ends today, but your memories will be with you for a lifetime! Our company representative will take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home youโ€™ll have ample time to plan your next adventure to explore the most glorious mountains of Nepal.
