      Day 2: Lima - Arequipa

After breakfast, you can start the day with a city tour. You'll get to know the historic center of Lima city and the modern Miraflores district. First, your tour will take you along Lima's famous cliffs to Miraflores' โ€œlove parkโ€ before heading towards the old town. On your way to the centre, you'll visit a local market in Surquillo district to sample local Peruvian fruits. We continue into the old town, where Plaza Mayor, with its magnificent colonial buildings and balconies, is located. This is probably the most beautiful place in Lima. The government palace, the archbishop's palace and the cathedral are in the immediate vicinity. The cathedral holds the remains of Fracisco Pizarro, the Spanish conqueror. Your way will take you to the Aliaga House (Casa Aliaga), the building given to one of his captains - Jerรณnimo de Aliaga - by city founder Francisco Pizarro, which is a true gem of colonial architecture and is still inhabited by members of the family today. You will then be driven to the Larco Museum, which is located in the traditional Pueblo Libre district. It was founded in 1926 by Rafael Larco Hoyle and is located inside a colonial-era villa built on a pre-Columbian pyramid from the 7th century. The most extensive pre-colonial collection of gold and silver artifacts as well as erotic art can be found there. Then it's back to the hotel. In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Arequipa. In the evening you will arrive in the โ€œwhite city of Peruโ€ Your guide will meet you and take you to the hotel.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Arequipa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Arequipa

After breakfast, start your tour at the Carmen Alto viewpoint opposite the Chili River, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Your guide will be happy to explain why Arequipa is also called โ€œthe white city of Peruโ€. You'll continue to the exclusive and traditional neighbourhood of Yanahuara, crossed by cobbled small streets, where you'll find a church built in 1750, typical of the art style of Cusco-based mestizos. From there, head to the city centre to visit other sights: the โ€œPlaza de Armasโ€ (the main square, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in all), the Jesuit church (built in 1590), the cathedral (built in the 17th century and fully rebuilt after several earthquakes) and the Santa Catalina monastery, a 1579 completed building - a medieval-looking nunnery that, like a small spiritual citadel, is used until our days. You'll then visit the oldest and most beautiful market in Arequipa. At the San Camilo market, you'll find all sorts of curiosities, from medicinal herbs to frog juice and pins. The rest of the day is free for your own exploration.
