      Jaipur Sightseeing

ยญJaipur is a colorful city that came into being when Maharaja Jai Singh decided to shift his capital from Amber to a new location due to the growing population. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II was a visionary ruler and an avid astronomer. He desired a new capital that would reflect both his power as a king and his scientific interests. The location of Jaipur was strategically chosen for its trade and defense prospects. Jaipur was built in accordance with the principles of Hindu town planning, divided into nine rectangular sectors called chokris, representing the nine divisions of the universe.

The city was initially named "Jai Singh Pura" after its founder but was later renamed "Jaipur." Jai Singh invited skilled artisans, craftsmen, and merchants from various parts of India to settle in Jaipur, leading to a flourishing arts and crafts industry. Today, Jaipur is a paradise for shoppers.

Begin your day with an excursion to Amber to visit the Fort of Man Singh, a splendid example of Rajput architecture. En route, stop for a photo at Hawa Mahal. Later, visit the City Palace, a complex of princely buildings, and its museum, known for carpets and miniatures. Adjacent to the palace is the Jantar Mantar, a 17th-century astronomical observatory with sophisticated tools for calculating eclipses and star posi-tions. Explore local handicraft items, as Jaipur is famous for textiles and gemstones. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
