3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trek Budget Safari Via Kigali

Travel by road from Kigali to Bwindi National Park. Our representative will pick you up in Kigali (between 7:00 am & 11:00 am Kigali time) and drive to Bwindi National Park. The drive to Uganda will go through Rwanda's northern town of Ruhengeri (also known as Musanze). You will then cross over into Uganda via Cyanika or Katuna border post. The trip continues through the nearby Kisoro or Kabale town and finally to Bwindi National Park. The journey from Kigali to Bwindi National Park will take approximately 4-5 hrs. Arriving at Bwindi National Park early afternoon will allow you to do optional activities such as canoeing at Lake Mutanda, visiting the Batwa community, and the coffee-making experience. Overnight budget options: Golden Monkey Guest House in Kisoro town, Mutanda Eco Community Centre at Lake Mutanda, or Karungi Camp at the Rushaga gate of Bwindi National Park.

You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the presentation covering the basics of what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take a few hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.   Overnight budget options: Golden Monkey Guest House in Kisoro town, Mutanda Eco Community Centre at Lake Mutanda, or Karungi Camp at the Rushaga gate of Bwindi National Park.

This will be the final day of the 3-day gorilla tour. The day will start with breakfast and a drive from Bwindi National Park back to Kigali. The drive from Bwindi National Park to Kigali city takes about 4-5 hours, but it's an enjoyable ride. If interested and time permitting, you can visit Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and trek golden monkeys (permit costs USD100) or experience the Batwa Trail before driving to Kigali. Other optional activities for the day include canoeing at Lake Mutanda and coffee making experience. Note that the earliest expected time in Kigali is 11:00 am Rwanda time. Note that the Uganda time zone (East African Time) is one hour ahead of the Rwanda time zone (Central African Time).
