After breakfast, embark on a scenic 4-5 hour hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tigerโ€™s Nest. This sacred monastery, perched on a steep cliff, offers breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. It is said that Guru Padmasambhava, who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan, meditated here for three years, three months, three weeks, three days, and three hours in the 8th century. Lunch will be served at a restaurant located halfway up the mountain. After your hike, return to the valley and drive to Thimphu. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Other notable sites include the Takin Sanctuary, National Library with its ancient manuscripts, the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the mini zoo, and various cultural heritage buildings. Additionally, we may explore the Textile Museum, Handicraft Emporium, traditional paper factory, and the majestic Tashichho Dzong. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

      Day 4: Thimphu To Punakha (1,250M/4,100Ft): 76 Km, 2 - 3 Hours Drive:

After breakfast, we drive to Dochula Pass (3,100 meters), a mountain pass on the route from Thimphu to Punakha. At this pass, youโ€™ll find 108 memorial chortens, known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens," built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother. From Dochula Pass, you can enjoy prominent views of the snow-capped Himalayas, including Mt. Masanggang (7,158 meters), the highest peak in Bhutan.

Next, embark on a 2-hour hike to Lungchutse Monastery. Dochula Pass was historically part of the ancient trails between Thimphu and Punakha, offering panoramic views of the Bhutanese Himalayas and a vibrant rhododendron garden. After your hike, return to Dochula Pass.

Following lunch, drive downhill through forests of rhododendron, fir, and hemlock. On the way, stop at Metshina Village and take a 20-minute walk through rice fields to reach Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Overnight stay in Punakha.

At dawn, we drive 12 kilometers north of Punakha to the base of the hill where the impressive Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten stands. From the parking area, cross a suspension bridge and walk through rice fields before ascending a moderately inclined trail bordered by pine trees. This temple, constructed over nine years by Bhutanese craftsmen using holy scriptures rather than engineering manuals, is a unique example of Bhutanโ€™s architectural and artistic traditions. It is the only one of its kind in the world. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Punakha Valley from the temple.

      Visit Punakha Dzong

On the way back, we will visit Punakha Dzong, the second oldest and second largest dzong in Bhutan, built in 1637.
