Today is a jam-packed day. We will first visit the ruined fortress of Drukgyel Dzong, a fortress and Buddhist monastery in the upper part of the Paro District, Bhutan. The Dzong was thought to have been built by Tenzin Drukdra in 1649 to celebrate a victory over the invading Tibetans. We will also hike to Taktsang monastery, a 45-minute steep trek through villages and a pine forest. The monastery sits precariously on the edge of a huge granite cliff 800 meters from the Paro valley. In the afternoon we head through the beautiful valley to the museum located within the Ta-Dzong building. It was established in 1968 by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The seven floors museum has on display various aspects of Bhutanese culture and history dating back to the 7th century. A short walk from here downhill is the Rinpung Dzong which is the administrative center and school for monks. In the afternoon we drive for around two hours and 65 kilometers to the capital Thimphu where we will stay overnight in a 3 star hotel.ย

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal; it is an exuberant place full of sights, sounds, and smells that are captivating. Kathmanduโ€™s name comes from a structure of the Durbar square which is called Kasthamandap; its origin goes back to the word โ€˜Kasthaโ€™ in sanskrit, which means wood, as well as the word โ€˜Mandapโ€™ which means cover.
