This is a Roman Catholic cathedral, located near the Ancient Pont Bridge in Cotonou, Benin. It is noted for its distinct burgundy and white striped tiled architecture. Continue to the National University of Benin, the principal university in the country. The university was founded in 1970 as the Universitรฉ du Dahomey. In 1975 the name was changed to Universitรฉ Nationale du Bรฉnin. End the tour at the Dantokpa Market in Cotonou, Benin. It is one of the most important retailing areas in Benin, covering over 20 hectares. On this day, you will experience ceremonies and festivities that will take place on the beach near the monument dedicated to the Place of No Return and stand among thousands of voodoo believers and adherents to receive blessings from Quidahโ€™s voodoo chief. This festival is dubbed one of Beninโ€™s most colourful and spectacular events. The celebrations will also be filled with singing, chanting, dancing, beating of drums and drinking various spirits usually gin.       After an early breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart to the Kakum National Park, one of West Africaโ€™s

      surviving tropical rain forests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 100 feet above the forest floor. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through this forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway. Later, visit the infamous Forts, Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade and why its impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. See the slave dungeons and condemned cells where slaves who attempted to escape were incarcerated. View its utterly distinct architecture. Afterwards, continue the tour to Posuban Military Shrine where the Asafo companies (Fanti traditional soldiers), prepare spiritually for war.
