This tour includes:

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu & Transfer To Hotel.

      On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport you will be welcomed by a representative from sherpa Expedition teams and taken to your hotel in Thamel,

      After breakfast at the hotel your guide will pick you up for a tour of Kathmanduโ€™s historical sites: Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath (monkey temple), Bouddhanath; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. In the afternoon there will be a final briefing and preparation for the trek.

      The 120km drive from Kathmandu to Jiri takes approximately 7-8 hours with remarkable views of the eastern mountain range that includes Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung and other snow-capped peaks. We will stay at Jiri tonight.

      Today we are on the trail for 7 hours beginning with a trek through cultivated farmlands and Tamang villages. We then pass through forested areas and grazing land before arriving at Shivalaya. We then ascend to Deurali pass (3000m) where we will stay at a guesthouse overnight.

      Today we head downhill to Likhu Khola before continuing on to Sete. This particular section of the trail is alive with wildlife. Tonight we will stay at a guest house in Sete.

      The trail to Junbesi takes you through rhododendron, birch and magnolia forests that are common in the Solu-Khumbu region. We then head higher to Lamjura Pass (3,500m) where you will get your first glimpse of Mt. Everest. From the pass we descend to the Sherpa village of Junbesi where we will stay the night at a guesthouse.

      From Junbesi we head to Phurtung (2,900m) and then on to Nun Thala. On this section of the route we have views of Mt. Thamserku (6,623m), Kusum Kanguru (6,370m), Kantega (6,780m), Mera Peak (6,650m) and other enormous peaks. We will stay at a guest house in Nun Thala tonight.

      Today we trek through the farmlands of Rai and Sherpa communities. We will follow the Dudh Koshi River in order to reach Kharikhola and then pass through the village of Juving (1680) a large Rai village. Next we come to the village of Bupsa where we will visit the Buddhist monastery and explore the village. We will stay at a guesthouse overnight.

      Our first destination today is Khari La Pass (2,880m) passing through rhododendron and oak forests and a small Sherpa community with its tea houses. From here you have some great views of several enormous peaks such as: Cho-Oyu (8,201m), Numbu (6,960m), Thamserku (6,629m.) and Gyangchung Kang (7,922m). We will stay at a guesthouse here tonight.

      This morning we head to Phakding (2,610m) passing through the villages of Mushi (2,650m) and Cheplung (2,700m). We eventually reach Phakding where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      After leaving Phakding we follow the trail along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. From the trail you can see Mt. Thamserku looming skyward on the opposite bank before coming to Benkar. The trail then ascends from the riverbed and up through the forest to Chumoa and on to Namche Bazaar.

      Before climbing to higher altitudes it is necessary to acclimatize.  Health experts recommend we stay active and on the move during the day. Today we have a choice of a hike to Thame or visit Khunde, or relax and explore Namche Bazaar โ€“ the home to many Sherpas working in the trekking business. Namche Bazaar is the main commercial centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery, and a exciting market each Friday evening and Saturday. The more we ascend to higher altitudes today the better the acclimatization process. Your guide will also take you to the Tourist Visitor Center located close to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can view a variety of artifacts and equipment linked to the first Everest climbers. You will be fascinated to learn about the history of the Sherpa culture as well as the flora and fauna of the Everest region.

      This morning we follow the icy glacial waters of the Dudh Koshi River with breathtaking views of the nearby peaks. We continue to an elevation of 3860 meters with fantastic panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Mt. Everest. At Tengboche we will visit the famous Gomba (temple) and monastery. On the trail you can expect to see musk deer and Nepalโ€™s national bird the colorful pheasant. The path heads down to the Dudh Koshi River where there are a number of water driven prayer wheels. We will stay at a guesthouse here tonight.

      Today on the trail we pass several Chortens, Mani walls and several small villages. This afternoon we head north to Pheriche, or alternatively can follow an eastward trail below the soaring north face of Mt. Ama Dablam. The trail is not too physically taxing as we enter the Imja Valley that gradually broadens as we get nearer to the Lobuche River. We will then descend to the river and then have a steep climb up to Dingboche. Dingbocheโ€™s fields are surrounded by stone walls that protect them from grazing animals and strong winds, with staple crops of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes.

      Today we head to Lobuche village at the head of the Pheriche Valley. To the north we can see Lobuche Peak (6,119m) as we trek through large flat and broad fields. We then cross the Khumbu River at Dughla (4,620m). From here we have great views of Pumori (7,145m) close to the Tibetan border. We will also be stunned at the sight of Mt. Changtse (7,550m), and the colossal walled faces of Mt.Lhotse and Nuptse. We will stay at a guesthouse in Lobuche tonight.

  • Day 16 Day 16: Trek To Everest Base Camp (5360Meter) And Back To Gorakshep (5160Meter) Duration 7-8 Hours.

      Today we head from Gorakshep and cross the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier on our way to EBC. Further along the trail we can see the crest of the north ridge of Everest and Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbutse & Mt. Nuptse. A short climb takes us to Mt. Thangma Riju from where we have 360 degree panoramic views of the snow covered mountains. After a further steep ascent and after crossing the Changri Glacier we get our first our first look at Kala Patthar, a black rocky knoll situated below Mt. Pumori. At Gorakshep we have some incredible panoramic views of the surrounding snow covered peaks, including Mt. Everest. Upon reaching Mount Everest Base Camp we have time to explore and ponder how the early mountaineers felt when planning their climb to the summit. From EBC we return to Gorakshep for the night.

      This morning we climb to Mt. Kalapathar (5,545m) and get the most fabulous mountain views of Mt. Everest (8848m) and other massive snow capped peaks: Nuptse, Changtse, Pumori, Lhotse and other equally large peaks. We then descend to Gorakshep (5180m) and down to Pheriche for the night.

      From Pheriche we initially head to Orsho and then to Pangboche Village. At Pangboche we will visit the oldest monastery in the region. We then head down to Tengboche Monastery (3860m) before returning to Namche Bazaar (3441m) in the afternoon where we will stay at a guesthouse for the night.

      This morning we head down to the Dudh Koshi River then on to Phakding and finally to Lukla passing through several Sherpa villages and crossing a suspension bridge above the Thado Koshi River. We will stay at a guesthouse here tonight.

      From Lukla we have a 35 minute flight over the mountains to Kathmandu. Today you will have a new appreciation of these mountains after trekking through them and now over them.
