      Experience today the vibrant metropolis of Hanoi, which impresses with magnificent colonial buildings and pagodas. In the morning you will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum as well as the former residence of the legendary politician, in which he lived from 1958 - 1969. Afterwards you will visit the most important literary temple of Vietnam as well as the legendary Chua Mot Cot, also called the "One Pillar Pagoda". You will take a drive around the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake and visit the so-called "Jade Mountain Temple", the Ngoc Son Temple. Then take a one-hour rickshaw ride through Hanoiโ€™s Old Quarter, one of the most beautiful in Asia. A performance of the Water Puppet Theater will round out this day.

      West of Hanoi lies the town of Mai Chau in the middle of the equally named valley. Your driver will pick you up at the hotel. Sit back and enjoy the drive through Hanoiโ€™s hinterland. The area is used for growing sugarcane, tapioca and rice. You will pass small charming villages and stop in Hoa Binh town. Once in the valley, a short afternoon hike will take you through the villages in Mai Chau Valley and the fascinating landscape. The people living here preserved their culture over the centuries, even today you can get a good impression of it by examining the typical stilt houses. Also, the traditional clothing is still worn in part in everyday life. You will spend the night in the town of Mai Chau.

      Day 4: From Mai Chau Valley To "Dry Halong Bay" (B)

      Today the day begins with a visit to the traditional villages of Lac, Nhot and Na Meo, located right at the foot of the mountain range. Here you can get a good idea of the daily life of the valleyโ€™s inhabitants and immerse yourself in the rural idyll. After that, we will continue towards Ninh Binh. This small town is located in the so-called dry Halong Bay and is a good starting point for excursions into the enchanting surroundings. You will board the bike and leisurely cycle through Ninh Binh and have the opportunity to visit one of the traditionally built houses. There you will leave the bikes and board a boat and continue on the river. Soon you will recognize the first, large and rugged limestone rocks. However, these do not rise from the water as in Halong Bay, but from the rice fields along the river, hence the name "dry Halong Bay". Spend the night in Ninh Binh town.

By noon, you will continue your cruise through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. After lunch, you will disembark and return to Hanoi. From there, you will fly to Hue in central Vietnam. At the airport you will be met by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel in Hue.

      Your day will start with a sightseeing tour of the former imperial city of Hue. It was built in the early 19th century and resembles the Forbidden City in Beijing. The sightseeing tour starts with a boat ride on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, a 17th century Buddhist monastery. Before there, the tour continues to the venerable Imperial City. Countless palaces, temples, a library and a museum are located within these walls, along with the legends surrounding the "forbidden purple city". The famous sights such as the majestic Citadel and the Ngo Mon Gate, which is the main entrance to the imperial estate, are part of the sightseeing tour as well as the Dien Tho Residence, where the royal mother lived, and the Thai Hoa Palace, with its detailed entrance hall, the halls of the Mandarins and the original Ninth Dynasty urn. In the afternoon, visit the famous tombs of Emperor Tu Duc, set amid forested hills and lakes away from the palace grounds. Afterwards, you will continue to Hoi An. The drive is over the scenic Cloud Pass above Danang, a route with many unforgettable views.

      This morning you will go on another bike tour to the small village of Tra Que. On the way you will pass rice fields and palm-lined avenues, everything is a little quieter and more leisurely here than in the big city of Hanoi. Tra Que village is mainly known for growing herbs and vegetables. Your personal guide will explain to you exactly what is grown here. This way you will also learn a lot about the local cuisine. If you feel like it, you can also lend a hand yourself and help the farmers with their work. Harvest a few herbs and a few vegetables. These can also be prepared directly on site; a delicious traditional lunch that you will not forget so quickly. In the afternoon you will continue your journey by domestic flight to Saigon. Once there, you will be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in downtown Saigon.

      In the morning today you will make an excursion to the famous tunnel system Cu Chi. Your guide will take you to the gates of the city, where the system of tunnels about 350 km long was created. Here the Vietcong fought against the Americans and used the system to organize themselves and as shelters. Even today, the Cu Chi system is considered a symbol of resistance against foreign domination and foreign rule. In addition to the shelters, the system includes kitchens, dormitories, infirmaries, conference halls and supply rooms. Wells were also dug in the 5 to 6 meter deep tunnels, which supplied the partisans with fresh water. In the afternoon we will continue with the sightseeing tour of Saigon metropolis. Here they will visit the Chinese Quarter, Thien Hau Temple and Binh Tay Market.

      Today you will take a trip to the Mekong Delta. This region is the southernmost in Vietnam and is also known as the "bread basket", as rice for the whole country is grown here. You will drive to Ben Tre and start your boat trip on the Mekong River. You will stop at a small farm to taste delicious local fruits and tea. You will take a rickshaw to a nice place to have your lunch. Continue by small boats on the narrow waterways back to Ben Tre and transfer back to Saigon.
