      A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will be at the airport to meet you on arrival and take you to your hotel in Thamel. You will, after settling in to your hotel, be briefed on what to expect on the trek and then have time to explore the bustling tourist hub of Kathmandu.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Trek Preparation And Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour.

      At 8.30 a.m. we head out in a private vehicle with a professional tour guide and will visit Bouddhanath Stupa said to be one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we will see Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries adjoining the stupa. After Bouddhanath Stupa we will go to Pashupatinath, the most distinguished Hindu temple in Nepal situated on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River where Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditate, pilgrims bathe and occasionally funeral pyres burning at the Ghats. A highlight of todayโ€™s tour is a visit to the celebrated Bhaktapur Durbar Square that houses a collection of pagoda and Shikhar โ€“ style temples intentionally placed around a traditional 55 window palace made of brick and timber. The main features at Bhaktapur Durbar Square are the Lion Gate, the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 windows, several art galleries and the Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla. For the remainder of the day you can stroll around Thamel or shop for things you may need on the trek.

      Early this morning we head out on a 35 minute flight to Lukla Airport - also known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Most flights are morning flights so as to avoid the fickle mountain winds later in the day. It is an amazing flight through the mountains with views of several of the worldโ€™s highest peaks. After landing in Lukla we will have breakfast then trek for about 3 hours until we arrive at Phakding Village where we will stay the night.

      Today we head out on the trail along the banks of the Dudh Kosi River ascending through Himalayan Pine and Deodar Cedar forests before reaching the renowned village of Namche Bazaar, the largest Sherpa village in Nepal and a famous and thriving trading village for Nepalese and Tibetan merchants who barter in salt, dried meat and textiles.

      Today we will stay at Namche Bazaar in order to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. It is vitally important to acclimatize before climbing higher which will ensure you are physically ready and less liable to be effected by altitude sickness. To aid this process we will head up to Khumjung which is said to have several excellent bakeries. Another option is a five hour trek to Everest View Hotel or the village of Khudi to help acclimatize. From Khudi you have great views of several mammoth mountains, including Mt. Everest. We will return to Namche Bazaar for the night.

      Leaving Namche Bazaar we continue on the trail to Dole Village (4190m). The trail is easygoing crossing several valleys and passing through rhododendron, juniper and other coniferous forests. Spring is the ideal time for this trek as the rhododendron forests are in full bloom with their pink, white and red flowers with their lingering scent filling the air. You may also see Sherpas on the trail with their herds of Yak grazing on the green alpine slopes. Finally we come to Dole where we spend the night.

      The trail from this point onward becomes increasingly more difficult as we head through dense forest and to higher altitudes with fewer villages along the trail. The trail climbs up the side of the valley until it comes to Machhermo, a small and eye-catching village in the Khumbu region. Sherpas believe that the region of Machhermo is the home of the Yeti - mythical snowman!

      Today we ascend 300 meters before coming out in the Gokyo Valley. Gokyo is a small village located at the base of Gokyo Peak. Nearby we can see Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in the Himalayas and located in the Gokyo Valley. From Gokyo there are eye-catching views of a number of enormous 8000 meter high peaks, including Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse. 

  • Day 9 Day 9: Gokyo Valley Acclimatization Day & Visit The 4Th And 5Th Gokyo Lakes.

      Today we spend time acclimatizing while surrounded by numerous turquoise Lakes. we will climb up to Scoundrelโ€™s viewpoint, a village located on the eastern shores of Dudh Pokhari lake (4700 m / 15420 ft), also known as Gokyo Lake to catch some amazing views of several Himalayan peaks: Nuptse, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu and Gyachung Kang. 

  • Day 10 Day 10: Hike Gokyo Ri (5357 M/17,570 Ft) And Trek Back To Dole 6-7 Hours.

      On Day 10 of your adventure, youโ€™ll ascend the majestic Gokyo Ri, reaching an altitude of 5,357 meters (17,570 feet). After soaking in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Everest region, youโ€™ll trek back down to Dole, covering the distance in about 6-7 hours. This day promises both the thrill of high-altitude exploration and the beauty of the rugged Himalayan terrain.

      Today we head downhill past several waterfalls through rhododendron trees as we head down the valley.  On a couple of occasions we have views of Mt. Amadablam, Tawache, Thamserku and other snow capped peaks. From Mongla Village we can see Tengboche in the distance. We continue to the village of Sansa that connects us to the main Everest trail taking us back to Namche Bazaar. After arriving at Namche Bazaar we will enjoy a hot shower at the hotel and spend the evening relaxing over a well earned drink.

      Today is going to much easier as we descend to Lukla leaving the mountains behind us. The remainder of the day is free and allows for a well-earned rest. If you have the energy you may decide to stroll around and explore nearby places of interest at Lukla.

      Day 13: Fly From Lukla To Kathmandu.

      We will take an early morning flight to Kathmandu (avoiding the possibility of strong winds later in the day) that will see us arriving back in Kathmandu with time on our hands to explore the city or relax and reflect on our journey into these massive mountains. Your guide will be around to assist you with shopping or sightseeing.

      This is the end of your adventure to some of the worldโ€™s highest peaks!
