      Welcome to the land of the Himalayas! On the first day of your itinerary, you will arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal. The city is located at an altitude of 1,350 meters (4,429 feet) above sea level. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will go through immigration and customs before meeting your guide or representative who will transfer you to your accommodation.

      When you done everything inside then go out from Kathmandu International Airport a representative from Overland Trek Nepal will welcome you. He will help you with your luggage and other airport formalities. Later he will transfer to the hotel in the main city area. You may rest after long hours of flight. Later in the evening, you can explore the city. If you left any trekking gear you can rent or buy in Thamel.

      Today you will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, which is the gateway to the Everest region. The flight takes approximately 30 minutes and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.


      Upon arriving in Lukla, you will start your trek to Phakding. This will take about 3-4 hours, covering a distance of around 9 kilometers (5.6 miles). The trail initially descends towards the Dudh Koshi River and passes through several small villages, lush forests, and suspension bridges.


      Make sure to take it slow and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Phakding is located at an altitude of 2,652 meters (8,699 feet) and offers a good range of accommodation options for trekkers.


      Once you reach Phakding, you can relax, explore the village, and acclimatize yourself to the altitude before continuing your journey towards Namche Bazaar on the following day.

The trek to Namche Bazaar generally takes around 5-6 hours, but the duration can vary depending on your fitness level and pace. The distance covered is approximately 10-12 kilometers (6-7 miles). The trail starts with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi River, where you will cross a suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge, the trail gradually ascends through the forested areas of the Sagarmatha National Park. As you continue, you may catch glimpses of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks if the weather is favorable.Namche Bazaar, located at an altitude of 3,440m (11,283ft), is an important trading center and gateway to the Everest region. It serves as a resting point for acclimatization before proceeding further.

      The distance covered is approximately 10-12 kilometers (6-7 miles).

      The trail from Namche Bazaar to Dole involves gradual ascents and descents through rhododendron and pine forests.

      As you continue ascending, you will pass through small Sherpa villages, offering a glimpse into the local culture and way of life.

      Along the trail, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Himalayan peaks and the surrounding landscapes.

      Dole is located at an altitude of 4,200m (13,779ft) and offers a tranquil setting surrounded by mountains.

      The trail from Dole to Machhermo involves a gradual ascent, passing through yak pastures and small settlements.

      As you gain altitude, you will notice the landscape changing, with fewer trees and more alpine vegetation.

      The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Cho Oyu.

      Machhermo is located at an altitude of 4,470m (14,665ft), nestled in a picturesque valley.

      During this part of the trek, it is important to continue acclimatizing and listen to your body. Take it slow, drink plenty of water, and be aware of any symptoms of altitude sickness.       Todayโ€™s hike will lead you to pristine Gokyo Valley, the final destination of the trek. After walking for an hour from Machhermo you reach Phanga. This place is dedicated to people who lost their lives in landslides.

      As you move ahead, take multiple breaks en route and soak in some stunning mountain vistas.

      Further, you will cross an iron bridge that leads to Longpongo Lake (4,690m). You will continue your walk through the rough terrain over the Ngozumpa Glaciers.

      Gokyo Valley is majestically beautiful, adorned by mighty mountains, icy glaciers, and oligotrophic lakes. Once you reach the village, take a breath and immerse yourselves in the beauty of Gokyo lakes and the surrounding Himalayas. This magnificent sight is beyond any description. Gokyo Lakes comprises six of the worldโ€™s highest freshwater lakes. Among six, the third lake is stunning and the most visited in the Everest region.

      The hike to Gokyo Ri is challenging due to the high altitude, but the stunning views from the top make it all worthwhile. The hike usually takes around 3-4 hours, but this can vary depending on your fitness level and the weather conditions. It is advisable to start early in the morning to witness the sunrise from the summit.


      After enjoying the magnificent views from Gokyo Ri, you will descend back to Gokyo Valley. Then have your hot and delicious breakfast then from there, you will continue on the trek to Machhermo, which is situated at an altitude of 4,470m (14,665ft). The trek from Gokyo Valley to Machhermo generally takes around 3-4 hours, again depending on your pace and the trail conditions.


      Machhermo is a small village with basic tea houses and lodges, offering a cozy place to rest and recharge. It is important to take enough breaks, stay hydrated, and listen to your body during this trek, as you will still be at a considerable altitude.


      Remember to take caution and be aware of any signs of altitude sickness, such as headaches, dizziness, or shortness of breath. If you experience severe symptoms, it is crucial to descend to a lower altitude and seek medical help if necessary.

      Now you are very close to concluding your journey to the Gokyo Lakes trek. Today you will return to Namche Bazaar. You will walk through the dense forests home to several musk deer and mountain goats.

      The trail is narrow downhill and quite steep. You need to take steps gently with the help of trekking poles. Beholding some final views of Mount Everest you will reach Namche Bazaar. The place is full of local cafes, restaurants, and bars. You can request your guide to take you to a cafe or bar.

      This is your last day on the Everest trail before flying back to Kathmandu. The trekking path is mostly downhill from Namche to Phakding.

      On the trail, you will see beautiful chortens, prayer flags, and mani walls. You will pass through small villages, narrow forests, and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.

      Finally, after a gentle walk through Benkar,  you arrive at Phakding. As you continue your hike you reach the small settlement of Toktok. This village offers a unique view of some splendid mountains of the Everest region. Beholding the natural beauty you proceed towards Lukla.


  • Day 11 Fly Back To Kathmandu- 40 Minutes

      After early morning breakfast, you will head towards Lukla airport. You will catch the flight as soon as possible. After reaching Kathmandu, you have the rest of the day off to rest.

      Later in the evening, you can explore the main city area. You can enjoy Nepalese food with live music in one of the fine restaurants in Thamel or Durbarmarg. You can also do some souvenir shopping.

      Final Departure

      Today your Gokyo Lakes adventure comes to an end! A representative from Overland Trek Nepal will drop you at the airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight. If you wish to extend your vacation in Nepal then you may request to organize other adventurous activities.
