Accommodation

Standard twin-sharing accommodation in a three-star hotel in Kathmandu (3 nights only) and Pokhara (3 nights only) including breakfast. Trekking Lodge/teahouse accommodation during the trek.

Airport pick up and drop off by private car/Jeep. Kathmandu to Pokhara to Kathmandu Transportation by Tourist Bus. Pokhara to Nayapul to Pokhara transportation by private vehicles. Kathmandu and Pokhara sightseeing in a private car.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Kathmandu (1,400M) & Transfer To Hotel.

      Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative, and taken to your hotel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek to Ghorepani, Poon Hill, and Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Guided Sightseeing In The Kathmandu Valley.

      Today your guide will take you to see the sights in Kathmandu Valley. We will visit Pashupatinath, which is regarded as the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal and a place where pilgrims worship Lord Shiva (situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River), Bouddhanath, a Buddhist temple known as โ€˜Little Tibetโ€™ and then on to Swayambhunath known as the Monkey Temple. From Swayambhunath we drive to Kathmanduโ€™s famous Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage listed site and located in front of the former royal palace. Upon arriving back at your hotel you may have time to do some last minute shopping around Thamel โ€“ the tourist heart of Kathmandu.

      Our journey to the Annapurna region begins with a 6-7 hour drive to Pokhara Valley and its beautiful Phewa Tal (lake) and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal. There is plenty to see and do along Lakeside with its many shops, bars, and restaurants to choose from. Sitting at Lakeside watching the sunset is a beautiful sight.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Drive To Nayapul (1,100M) & Trek To Tikhedhuga (1,450M) 5-6 Hours.

      We will drive for about 1:25 hours from Pokhara via the attractive Lumle Village that is perched on the mountainside and then continue on to Nayapul Village (1050m). The Ghorepani Poon Hill ABC trek begins at Nayapul. After a 30 minute trek, we come to Birethanti where you will be asked to show your tourist permit at the checkpoint. The trail takes us through the beautiful rhododendron forest and then follows along the banks of the Modi River with a stop at a teahouse along the way, and after a 3 -4-hour trek reaches the lush green village of Tikhedhunga.

      Today we hit the trail with a 2-hour steep climb up the stone steps to Ulleri (2070m) and then to the Magar village of Banthanti from where we are blessed with amazing views of Mt. Machapuchare (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Annapurna South (7219m). We follow the trail through a lush pink flowering rhododendron forest and then cross a small bridge before reaching the village of Ghorepani where massive peaks, such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna tower in the background. This is a fantastic place to sit, relax, and take in the superb views.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Hike Up To Poonhill (3,210M) & Trek To Tadapani (2,630M) 6-7 Hours.

      Poon Hill is well known for offering the very best views of the Annapurna Ranges โ€“ especially at sunrise and sunset. An early start will see us reach the Poon Hill viewpoint where we can watch the changing colors reflecting off the mountains, such as  Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I  (8091m), Annapurna II  (7937m), Annapurna III  (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri  (6940m), Tukuche  (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m) & Lamjung Himal (6931m). Your camera will be working overtime to capture the changing light reflecting off the mountains. We will then return to Ghorepani for breakfast, after which we follow the trail, via the picturesque village of Deurali (meaning ridge in Nepali), and then on to Tadapani.

      The trail from Tadapani descends through well-preserved oak and rhododendron forests and offers views of the Annapurna Ranges along the way. We will stop for lunch at Kimrong Khola (river), a tributary of the Modi Khola River. From here the trail climbs for 1-2 hours before reaching a ridge where it becomes easier before reaching Chomrong Village โ€“ the last village on the trail until ABC.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Trek To Dovan (2,600 M) 5-6 Hours.

      The trail today initially descends to Chomrong Khola (river) before heading up to Khuldighar (2,380m) where there is an Annapurna Conservation check point before entering the Annapurna Conservation Area. We then descend into the valley and follow the along the banks of the river passing through a bamboo grove before taking a steep path to Dovan.

      Today the trail heads up through the rhododendron forest alongside the Modi Khola (river) to the Himalaya Hotel (2920m). We will stop for lunch along the way before heading to Hinku Cave, which was formerly a place for early explorers to stop and replenish their supplies. We then continue following the trail until we reach Deurali (3200m).

  • Day 10 Day 10: Trek To Annapurna Base Camp (4,130M) 5-6 Hours.

      Today we trek up to the Sanctuary (ABC) along a trail that is sometimes covered in snow โ€“ depending on the season. From ABC you have some extraordinary views of Annapurna I (8091m) an enormous mountain right there in front of your eyes! ABC has several teahouses where we can stop for a rest and take in the magnificent views. We will stay here overnight. 

  • Day 11 Day 11: Trek To Bamboo (2,520M) 5-6 Hours.

      This morning we leave ABC and trek downhill through lush vegetation until we reach Bamboo Village where we stay for the night.

      After leaving Bamboo in the morning we have a short climb to Sinuwa Village and from there head to Chomrong Village. After a short break and a tea at Chomrong, we head uphill and then head down to Jhinu Danda. This is an excellent occasion to relax your weary muscles in the hot spring situated just below the Modi River. We will stay here tonight.

  • Day 13 Day 13: Trek To Nayapul & Drive To Pokhara (8,50M) 6-7 Hours.

      This is our last day of trekking and after leaving Jhinu Danda we will follow an easily navigated trail alongside the Modi Khola River for about 4 to 5 hours before reaching Birethanti Village. We then continue to Nayapul before driving back to Pokhara.

      In the early morning, we can take a short trek to the hills and watch the sunrise over the Annapurnas and see Machapuchare, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri Range, and across the Pokhara valley. After returning to the hotel for breakfast we can head to Sarangkot where you can experience paragliding.  After lunch your guide will take you to Bindabasini Temple, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, the Seti River gorges, to Tibetan refugee camps and high on the hill to the World Peace Pagoda and finally to the museum.

  • Day 15 Day 15: Drive Back To Kathmandu (1400M) 6-7 Hours.

      Today we drive back to Kathmandu with many warm memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. The Ghorepani Poon Hill ABC trek will leave you with memories to last a lifetime!

      Sherpa Expeditions & Trekking staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure at least three hours prior to your departure from Nepal.
