The Italy on a Budget tour leaders are most of them raised and born in Italy for you to have the real Italian experience but don't worry, they are all fully fluent in English! The aim of the group leader is to help you have the best trip possible. Your leader takes care of logistics, will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see and recommend great local eating venues. While not being guides in the traditional sense, you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural and social aspects. If you are interested in delving deeper into the historical facts at a specific site or location, we can recommend optional licensed local guide services in most of the main destinations of your trip. Just get in touch with us! Your tour leaders and the composition of your group may change in certain days as the groups are small and we want to make sure you can meet as many new fellow travellers as possible.

Transport

The primary means of transportation of this trip is by train. Trains are the fastest way to cross long distances, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and arrive right into the city centre. Please note that you'll have to carry your own luggage on and off the train, so make sure it doesn’t exceed in weight and size. Be prepared to walk a lot as we believe that there is no better way to explore a new city than on foot. Flights: Meet us at the hostel and we will start from there. If you arrive a day earlier or wants to stay a day longer, let us know and we can organise the accommodation for you. City taxes: Starting from April 1st 2012 all clients staying in any hotels/ hostels / campsites in Italy must pay a city tax. The fee is compulsory and needs to be paid directly at check in. In general is € 1 up to € 3.50 per person per night depending on the accommodation and location. This fee is between the client and the accommodation. Food and Drinks: Meals where not specified are not included however our guides will always have great recommendations about local and affordable restaurants for delicious meals. Entry tickets to museums and monuments which are not included in our walking tours. Local Transport ( buses, taxi, metro, water boat, shuttle buses ): The destinations of interest are easy to reach by foot. Local transport if requested is not included in the price but tickets can be purchases on spot.

Flights before and after the tour are not included in the tour price. You can organize your flights separately at any point. Before you book any flights make sure to verify with the tour operator that the tour is confirmed. Meet us at the hostel and we will start from there. If you arrive a day earlier or wants to stay a day longer, let us know and we can organise the accommodation for you.

Day 1 Day 1: Florence

Day 1: Florence

Check in to your accommodation and meet your tour leader for an original and fun orientation walk of the city to discover the new city and the local traditions.You will see the famous gothic Cathedral, the old bridge " Ponte Vecchio", We will end the tour in one of the busiest streets of Florence renowned for the many bars where to hang out at night. Here we will stop at the bar rated by the locals as the best aperitivo place in town. Thanks to the great atmosphere you will try the Italian lifestyle; seat down, socialize with the rest of the group, enjoy your drink and then eat and eat as much as you would like from the buffet of tasty Italian food. ( D ) Note: You can arrive to Florence whenever it is best for you. Check in time is from 3:00pm approx but if you arrive earlier feel free to store your bags in the accommodation. The tour will officially start in the late afternoon ( 7:30pm approx ).

Full day to wander in Florence, check out the museums, the monuments and some local leather markets in complete freedom. Don't forget to visit the David! or.... Take one of our day trips from Florence to visit the Tuscany wine region and the famous villages of Tuscany; Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni . Don’t forget to bring your camera…..the scenery from here is stunning!
Day 3 Day 3: Pisa And Cinque Terre Excursion By Train- Florence

Day 3: Pisa And Cinque Terre Excursion By Train- Florence

An early wake up for an exciting full day at the Cinque Terre, the most characteristic villages of Italy famous for their natural beauty, scenic trails, spectacular coast line and sunny beaches, including a 2h stop at the famous leaning tower of Pisa. We'll be back to Florence at 8:30pm.
Day 4 Day 4: Arrival To Venice

Day 4: Arrival To Venice

Bye Bye Florence, Venice here we come. We will catch the fast speed train from Florence train station and in only 2h we will reach Venice. After check in to our accommodation in Venice, we will head down to town for an orientation walk of the city to explore the city of the many canals, the gondolas, the millions of pigeons and the amazing churches. We will visit St. Mark's square, the Cathedral, the Rialto bridge and the Palazzo Ducale. The afternoon will be all yours if you wish to take a gondola ride across the canal or find out how the Carnival masks are made.
Day 5 Day 5: Full Free Day In Venice

Full day in Venice to relax or wander in Venice. You could also join a half day tour to the islands of Murano and Burano to check out the many colourful houses and the glass factories.
Day 6 Day 6: Verona - Venice

Day 6: Verona - Venice

In the morning head to one of the most romantic Italian city Verona, home of the famous Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet and well know for its spectacular Roman Amphitheater. Once in Verona, we will visit the famous balcony of Romeo and Juliet, get some luck from Juliet's boob, do some shopping and sightseeing. We will be back to Venice in the late afternoon.
Day 7 Day 7: Milan

Day 7: Milan

Travel in the morning to Milan, the global capital of fashion and design. Check in to our accommodation and head down to the historical centre passing by the Duomo, Vittorio EmanueleII's gallery to conclude by the Navigli, a popular area in Milan perfect for a night out.
Day 8 Day 8: Lake Como

Day 8: Lake Como

In the morning we will travel to Como. After a 1h30 minutes ride, arrive to Como, situated on the banks of the lake, encircled by enchanting hills and famous for being the birthplace of many historically notable figures including the scientist Alessandro Volta. Here you you will have free time to check out the many interesting sites whilst meandering through the streets of Como, visit the historical monuments, beautiful villas and breath-taking sights. We will then take a ferry across the lake Como towards Bellagio, a small village at the top of a long hilly promontory between the two southern branches of Lake Como. This elegant but tiny town is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the lovely views, classy boutiques, two gardens to visit, picturesque lanes, a choice of restaurants and bars. After Bellagio catch a ferry to Varenna, an attractive village on the eastern shore of Lake Como with the picturesque lanes and old fishermen's houses for a perfect gelato or cold drink with amazing views. Back to Milan in the evening.
Day 9 Day 9: Bye Bye Milan

On the third day in Milan we will check out in the morning at 10:00am which is officially the time the tour ends but if you wish to spend the whole day in Milan you can simply store your bags at the hostel until you leave.... or take a train to Rome and take part of an other exciting week in the south of Italy with our LET'S GO SOUTH.
