Day 4: Acclimatization Day At Namche Bazaar.

It is essential to properly acclimatize, which is essential before trekking to higher altitudes later on the trek. To stay active we have several options open to us and can trek to Thame or visit Khunde, or we can use this time to explore Namche Bazaar and head to the weekly market that takes place on Friday evening and on Saturday morning. Your guide will also take you to the Tourist Visitor Center located near to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park that has an interesting display of equipment and relics from the first Everest climbers. You can also discover something about the flora and fauna of the region that will make your trek even more interesting.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Trek From Namche To Phortse (Phorche) (3,680M) 5-6 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Trek From Namche To Phortse (Phorche) (3,680M) 5-6 Hours.

Today we follow the raging Dudh Kosi River with its freezing waters gushing down from the mountains. The trail also offers some spectacular mountain views as we gradually climb higher to 3860 meters at Tengboche Village, famous for its decorative wall hangings and 6 meter Buddha, Tibetan musical instruments and brilliant Lama robes. A highlight of the visit here is listening to the evening prayer at the monastery that is both relaxing and soothing.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Trek From Phortse To Dingboche (4,460M) 5-6 Hours.

Today we trek down through a forest, cross the Imja Khola and then head up to the village of Pangboche. This village is directly facing Ama Dablam (6,856m) and has brilliant views of the mountains with Gompa (monastery), Mani walls and pine trees in the foreground. After another few hours we come to Dingboche where we will stay overnight at a guest house.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Acclimatization Day At Dingboche.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Acclimatization Day At Dingboche.

Once again we need to acclimatize before continuing higher. In order to stay active, that is strongly recommended by health specialists, we will ascend 400 meters to Nangkartshang Gompa that is perched on a ridge just north of Dingboche Village. From here we can see Mt. Makalu (8,463m), the worldโ€™s fifth highest mountain, as well as Mt. Ama Dablam. If we are feeling energetic enough we can head to the summit at Nangkartshang (5090m) and will then return to Dingboche for the night.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Trek From Dingboche To Lobuche (4,900M) 5-6 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Trek From Dingboche To Lobuche (4,900M) 5-6 Hours.

This morning we head to Dughla Village and then cross the steep moraine and boulders at the base of the Khumbu Glacier. We then continue up to Chupki Lhara that has an array stones with prayer flags placed as a memorial to climbers Scott Fischer (American) and ten time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese guide) who died while attempting to climb Mt. Everest. As we move closer to the Khumbu Glacier moraine several huge peaks are right before us: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. This scene is a real jaw-dropper!  We will stay in a lodge here tonight.

  • Day 9 Day 9: Trek To Gorak Shep (5,180M) & Visit Everest Base Camp ( 5,364M) 8-9 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Trek To Gorak Shep (5,180M) & Visit Everest Base Camp ( 5,364M) 8-9 Hours.

Today we slowly trek higher passing Gorak Shep Lake and then further on come to a memorial in honor of Indian mountaineers who have died while trying to climb Mt. Everest. Walking is now more physically tiring as a result of the thinner air at this higher altitude. The trail has rocks, moraine and streams to cross before we ultimately arrive at EBC. The first thing that we notice (in the climbing season) at EBC is the vast array of colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right climbing conditions before attempting a climb to the peak. From EBC we can distinctly see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori and the snow reflecting off their peaks. After a rest and scout around EBC we head back to Gorak Shep for a well-earned nightโ€™s sleep.

  • Day 10 Day 10: Hike Up To Kala Patthar (5,555 M) Early In The Morning & Trek To Pheriche (4,300 M) 6-7 Hours.

Day 10: Hike Up To Kala Patthar (5,555 M) Early In The Morning & Trek To Pheriche (4,300 M) 6-7 Hours.

In the east are the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest will also start to come into view. On arrival at the summit of Kala Patthar we will be stunned as we take in the 360 degree views and the awesome views of Mt. Everest that appears right before your eyes. This is the time to take some amazing snaps of Everest that will be a reminder of this time in years to come. We will then return to Pheriche for the night.
