    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek To Monjo (2850M). Walk Approx 4-5 Hours

Todayโ€™s trek takes us through a landscape of breathtaking natural beauty and cultural significance. Weโ€™ll navigate the rushing Dudh Kosi River, aptly named for its milky-white color, crossing and re-crossing its path. The trail winds through dense pine forests and open meadows, showcasing terraced fields with diverse crops.

Along the way, weโ€™ll encounter small groups of donkeys and yaks diligently transporting goods and trekking equipment. These hardworking animals are integral to the local way of life. Weโ€™ll learn about the unique dzopko, a yak-cow hybrid, and the majestic long-haired yaks that thrive at higher altitudes.

Above us, the magnificent mountain peaks will unfold, appearing to float above the tree line and dominate the deep river valley. The sight of Kusum Kanguru (6369 m) to the east and Nupla (5885 m) and Kongde Ri (6093 m) to the northwest will leave us awestruck by natureโ€™s grandeur.

Our journey will introduce us to the first Mani walls, stone structures adorned with numerous tablets inscribed with the sacred mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum," revered by Buddhists and Brahmans. Weโ€™ll observe the Buddhist tradition of walking to the left of these Mani walls and chortens, a cultural practice not always understood by others.

As we continue, the majestic Thamserku (6808 m) will rise before us, seemingly emerging from the valley floor.

While the allure of the mountains is undeniable, we must remember the importance of acclimatizing to the higher altitude. Todayโ€™s walk may not be long, but weโ€™ll take our time, savoring each step and allowing our bodies to adjust to the changing conditions. This approach ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience as we embrace the wonders that await us on this remarkable journey.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek To Namche (3440M). Walk Approx 4-5 Hours

Our day starts with a scenic crossing of the vibrant Dudh Kosi River, followed by our entry into the Sagarmatha National Park. This protected area plays a crucial role in reducing the regionโ€™s reliance on firewood. We, as responsible trekkers, adhere to the practice of using kerosene fuels for cooking, both inside and outside the park.

While self-contained trekking groups follow these guidelines, itโ€™s important to note that tea houses and lodges in the area still rely heavily on firewood for cooking, heating, and hot water, contributing to deforestation.

Our trail follows the river until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi, where a majestic high bridge awaits. Crossing this bridge, we begin our ascent towards Namche Bazaar, often referred to as the Sherpa "capital" of Nepal.

The climb to Namche Bazaar is demanding yet rewarding. Weโ€™ll trek through pine forests and ascend to a viewpoint that offers our first glimpse of Mount Everest. The trail continues upward, winding towards Namche Bazaar, nestled in a horseshoe-shaped valley with the imposing peak of Kongde Ri opposite. The sight of this thriving village showcases the resilience and spirit of the Sherpa people.

After a satisfying lunch, you can explore the stalls of Tibetan traders or wander through the local Sherpa shops, where you might find interesting deals and unique cultural artifacts. Take your time to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere and experience the rich Sherpa culture that thrives in this bustling mountain town.

Our trek begins with a gentle ascent towards the Syangboche airstrip, offering a glimpse of the adventure that awaits. As we traverse the ridgeline, weโ€™ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas, showcasing majestic peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Khangtega, and Ama Dablam. Weโ€™ll pause at the renowned Everest View Hotel to fully appreciate this awe-inspiring panorama before continuing our journey towards Khumjung.

In Khumjung, weโ€™ll visit the iconic "Schoolhouse in the Clouds," a testament to Sir Edmund Hillary and the Himalayan Trustโ€™s remarkable contributions. Established in 1961, this school was a pioneer in the Khumbu region, starting with just two classrooms and now serving over 350 students. Exploring this institution and learning about its positive impact on the local community is a truly humbling experience.

After our visit, weโ€™ll descend for about 25 minutes to reach our exclusive campsite at Kyangjuma. For those experiencing early signs of altitude sickness, a shorter, 2-hour acclimatization walk from Namche to Kyangjuma is available. After crossing the bridge, weโ€™ll gradually ascend through picturesque pine forests towards the top of Kantegaโ€™s long ridge. Along the way, we might be lucky enough to spot local wildlife like Himalayan Thar, Musked Deer, and the colorful Danphe Pheasant, Nepalโ€™s national bird.

As we near Thyangboche, a traditional gateway and chorten welcome us to this peaceful village. The steps of the Thyangboche Monastery offer a breathtaking panorama of Everest nestled between Nuptse and Lhotse, with Peak 38, Shartse, and Ama Dablam completing the vista. Thyangboche holds deep spiritual significance in the Khumbu Valley, and its monastery, rebuilt with Sir Edmund Hillaryโ€™s help after a 1989 fire, symbolizes the communityโ€™s resilience.
