We can also explore Namche Bazaar and head to the weekly market that is a regular event on Friday evening and on Saturday morning. The trail also offers some spectacular mountain views as we gradually climb higher to Tengboche Village (3860m), famous for its decorative wall hangings and 6 meters high Buddha, Tibetan musical instruments, and striking Lama robes. We will then cross a bridge before that steep climb to Dingboche Village (4410m) where we will stay at a lodge for the night.

We head to higher elevations passing Gorak Shep Lake and then further on the trail we arrive at a memorial in honor of Indian mountaineers who died while attempting to climb Mt.Everest. Walking now is more physically challenging as a result of lesser oxygen at these higher altitudes. The trail is rocky with moraines and streams to cross before reaching EBC. The first thing that hits you on arrival at EBC is the assortment of colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right weather conditions before attempting a climb to the summit. From EBC we can clearly see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori and the stunning white snow on their peaks. After a short rest and look around EBC we head back to Gorak Shep for a well deserved nightโ€™s sleep after this hard day.

We hit the trail in the pre-dawn darkness with temperatures around -10 to -14C as we ascend to Kala Patthar. There is also the possibility of gusty winds that will add the morning chill factor. Toward the east are the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest also starts to materialize as we climb higher. On reaching the summit of Kala Patthar we will be ecstatic as we take in the 360 degree views and the immense and daunting Mt. Everest that appears right before your eyes!  You need to make sure your camera is ready and charged so you can capture some amazing images of Mt.Everest that will in the future serve as a reminder of this unforgettable trek to EBC in Nepal. We will stop here for lunch before crossing a hillside of juniper and rhododendron trees. We will then cross the Dudh Koshi River and head down a steep trail through the gorge and pine trees to Sansa Village. In this last leg of our journey, it is likely we will see a range of animals, such as mountain goats, snow leopards (elusive) and the eye-catching colored pheasants (Nepalโ€™s national emblem). Just prior to reaching Namche Bazaar we pass a chorten and the army camp at Namche Bazaar.
