We can also choose to explore Namche Bazaar and check out the weekly market that takes place on Friday evening and on Saturday morning. The trail also provides some dazzling mountain views as we gradually climb higher to 3860m at Tengboche Village, famous for its attractive wall hangings and 6 meter Buddha, Tibetan musical instruments and colorful Lama robes. An exciting visit here is taking part in the evening prayer at the monastery that is soothing to your soul.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Trek From Tengboche To Dingboche (4,200M) 4-5 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Trek From Tengboche To Dingboche (4,200M) 4-5 Hours.

Today is a less physically challenging day with an easy trek to Dingboche โ€“ except for the last leg where we have to climb a steep hill which is also a reminder that trekking at higher altitudes is more tiring. First we pass through the villages of Somare (4010m) and Orsho. Further along the trail we come to a crossroad and take the left trail that takes us to Pheriche Village. We then cross a bridge before that steep climb to Dingboche Village (4410m).

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Trek From Dingboche To Lobuche (4,920 M) 5-6 Hours.

Today we follow the trail to Dughla Village and then cross a steep moraine at the base of the Khumbu Glacier, having to trek across slopes covered with boulders. We head higher to Chupki Lhara that has an array of stones with prayer flags positioned as a memorial to climbers Scott Fischer (American) and ten-time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese guide) who died while attempting to climb Mt. Everest. As we trek to the Khumbu Glacier moraine a number of massive peaks stare right at us: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. This scene will leave you mesmerized.

Today we trek toward our destination and gradually head to higher elevations passing Gorakshep Lake and then further on arrive at a memorial that honors Indian mountaineers who have died on Mt. Everest. Walking now is more physically demanding as a result of lesser oxygen at this altitude. The trail is over rocks, moraine and streams prior to reaching EBC. The first thing that strikes us on arrival at EBC is the colorful array of tents of mountaineers patiently waiting for the right conditions before attempting a climb to the summit. From EBC we have endless views of Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori with snow glistening on their peaks. After a short rest and look around EBC we return to Gorak Shep for a good nightโ€™s sleep.

  • Day 9 Day 9: Hike Up To Kalapathar (5,545 M) & Trek Down To Pheriche (4,240) 7-8 Hours.

We are up before dawn with temperatures around -10 to -14C as we head to Kala Patthar. There is also the likelihood of strong winds that will add the chill factor โ€“ so wear some warm clothing. In the east you can see the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest also starts to come into view. At the summit of Kala Patthar, we will be ecstatic as we soak up the 360-degree views and the looming sight of Mt. Everest that appears right in front of you. Now is a camera moment where you can take some awesome snaps of Everest that will act as a reminder years after you have left Nepal. We will then continue down to Pheriche.
