      Day 3: Trek To Namche (3420M/11221Ft) 5-6 Hours/1000M Ascent, 100M Descent

Heading towards Namche Bazaar, our journey begins by passing through the charming hamlets of Zamphute and Tok Tok, where the majestic Thamserku peak gleams in the sunlight, accompanying us for much of the trek. We continue through picturesque Sherpa villages such as Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo, eventually arriving at Utche Choling Gompa, perched on a bluff overlooking the Dudhkoshi River. Our path then leads us through the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Halfway to Namche Bazaar, we embark on the second leg of our journey, which includes a challenging ascent, particularly towards the end. Passing through Jorsale, the last village before our climb, we navigate a steep, stepped path that culminates in a spectacular high bridge spanning the Dudhkoshi River gorge. Just before this bridge, the Dudhkoshi River meets its tributary, the BhoteKoshi.

Gradually ascending the final stretch towards Namche, we reach higher altitudes where the first glimpse of Mt. Everest appears, towering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. After approximately 1.5 km (0.9 miles), we arrive at Namche Bazaar, where we can rest and marvel at the breathtaking scenery. Meals provided: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Acclimatize At Namche; Trek Khumjung (3780M/12402Ft); Back To Namche

Day 4: Acclimatize At Namche; Trek Khumjung (3780M/12402Ft); Back To Namche

During our acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, we can aid our bodies in adjusting to the altitude by taking leisurely walks and ascending a few hundred feet throughout the day. Exploring the village, we observe traditional Sherpa houses, terraced fields, and the stunning snowy peaks of Kwangde, Khumbu, Thamserku, Kusum Kanguru, Ama Dablam, and Taboche.

One highlight is the bustling Saturday market, where we mingle with locals dressed in traditional attire. We begin our day by climbing the U-shaped hillside above Namche near the Gompa. Along the way, we enjoy panoramic views of Kwangde, Khumbila, Thamserku, Tagi Tau, Pharchamo, Ama Dablam, and Taboche. At a signposted intersection, we turn right towards Khumjung, passing a large chorten and a lengthy mani wall.

Reaching a viewpoint near "THE EVEREST VIEW HOTEL" for lunch, we marvel at the sight of Everest, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar (East), Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and Taboche. The trail then descends to Khumjung, known for its famous gompa nestled in a cedar grove. Inside the gompa, an image of Guru Padmasambhava is flanked by his consorts, and it houses a controversial yeti skull, revered by local lamas but debunked by scientists.

After exploring Khumjung, we return to Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay, enjoying meals throughout the day including Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
