      Your adventure begins at Kathmandu. On arrival a staff member from Sherpa Expedition Teams will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. You will also get to meet your guide who will give you a briefing on what to expect on the trek. Tonight you will stay at a hotel in Thamel โ€“ the tourist hub of Kathmandu.

      An early morning 30 to 40 minute scenic flight takes us to Tenzing-Hilary Airport at Lukla. We then follow the trail to Phakding alongside the Dudh Koshi River before coming to Phakding where we will stay overnight.

      We have a fairly easy day ahead of us as we follow the trail and then cross several bridges over the Dudh Kosi River via the charming villages of Toc-Toc, Benkar and Monjo before coming to the official entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. We will then follow the trail along the river flats for several hours and cross one final bridge before climbing up a steep hill until we reach Namche Bazaar, a lively modern town with many facilities such as restaurants, hotels, internet cafes and banks.

      Today we stay active in order to properly acclimatize, which is essential before heading to the higher altitudes later on the trek. To stay active we have several options open to us. We can trek to Thame or visit Khunde or we can use this time to explore Namche Bazaar and head to the weekly market that takes place on Friday evening and on Saturday morning โ€“ if our timing is right of course! Your guide will gladly take you to the Tourist Visitor Center close to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park that has an interesting display of equipment and relics of the first Everest climbers. You can also learn something about the flora and fauna of the region that will make your trek even more interesting.

The trail also offers some spectacular mountain views as we gradually climb higher to 3860 meters at Tengboche Village, famous for its decorative wall hangings and 6 meter Buddha, Tibetan musical instruments and brilliant Lama robes. A highlight of visiting here is listening to the evening prayer at the monastery that is both relaxing and calming.

      Today we descend through a forest, cross the Imja Khola and then climb up to the village of Pangboche. This village is directly opposite Ama Dablam (6,856m) and has excellent views of the mountains with Gompa (monastery), Mani walls and pine trees in the foreground. A trek of another few hours takes us to Dingboche where we will stay overnight at a guest house.

      Again it is necessary to acclimatize before continuing higher. In order to stay active, strongly recommended by health specialists, we will climb 400 meters to Nangkartshang Gompa that sits on a ridge just north of Dingboche Village. From here we can see Mt. Makalu (8,463m), the worldโ€™s fifth highest mountain, as well as Mt. Ama Dablam. If you have the energy we can head to the summit at Nangkartshang (5090m) and then return to Dingboche for the night.

      First we head to Dughla Village and then cross the steep moraine at the base of the Khumbu Glacier after crossing the boulder-strewn slopes. We then head up to Chupki Lhara that has an array stones with prayer flags placed as a memorial to climbers Scott Fischer (American) and ten-time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese guide) who died while attempting to climb Mt. Everest. As we move closer to the Khumbu Glacier moraine several huge peaks stare right at us: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. This scene is a real eye-opener. We will stay in a lodge here tonight.

      Today we slowly head to higher elevations passing along the way Gorakshep Lake and then further on come to a memorial that honors Indian mountaineers who have died while trying to climb Mt. Everest. Walking now is more physically tiring as a result of the thinner air at this higher altitude. The trail has rocks, moraine and streams to cross before arriving at EBC. The first thing that strikes us on arrival at EBC is the contrasting selection of colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right climbing conditions before attempting a climb to the summit. From EBC we can clearly see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori and the snow radiating off their peaks. After a rest and look around EBC we head back to Gorak Shep for a good nightโ€™s sleep.

      We are on the trail before daybreak in the cold morning with temperatures around -10 to -14C as we head to Kala Patthar. There is also the likelihood of strong winds that will add the chill factor. To the east are the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest will also start to come into view. On reaching the summit of Kala Patthar we will be overjoyed as we take in the 360 degree views and the amazing views of Mt. Everest that appears right in front of you. Now is the time to have your camera charged and ready to take some awesome snaps of Everest that will be a reminder of this time in year to come. We will then head back to Pheriche for the night.

      We now have to descend to Debouche and will pass through a rhododendron forest before reaching Tengboche, famous for its Buddhist monastery as well as having some fantastic views of the surrounding snow covered peaks. We then descend to Phunki Thenga (3,250m/10,663ft) located on the banks of the Imja Khola (river). From here we continue to Sanasa and then on to Namche Bazaar where we will stay overnight.

      Today we follow the trail back to Phakding on our final day of the trek. We expect to arrive at Lukla with time to spare, that will allow you to explore the village and surrounding landscape. You will be able to relax and take a deep breath and retrace this wonderful journey in your mind, go over your many photos and catch up on emails to your family and friends. There is a good feeling of accomplishment as you come to the end of this physically demanding trek. In the evening you may decide to kick up your heels a little with a few celebratory drinks.

      This morning we take a 45 minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu that is scheduled in the early morning to avoid the strong winds later in the day. On arrival at Kathmandu we will be taken back to our hotels where you have free time to wander around Thamel on your last night in Nepal.

      This morning your guide will pick you up at around 5:30 am from your hotel for a roughly eight hour drive to Soti Khola. For the first four hours the road is sealed up to Dhading Bensi, the district headquarters of Dhading (1050m). From Dhading the road to Arughat is quite rough and bumpy going. From Arughat we will drive for another hour and a half until we come to Soti Khola where we will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      Today we follow a mule track and ascend on an impressive path cut into the face of the cliff and then head down to Lapubesi (880m). We need to exercise caution on this stretch. We then continue to Nauli Khola, crossing a suspension bridge and then follow the trail alongside the Budi Gandaki River before arriving at Machha Khola (900m), a place where many trekkers were stuck after the earthquake in 2015 and had to be rescued, We will stay at a guesthouse tonight.

      Today we follow the trail next to the river to Khorlabesi and the hot spring at Tatopani (meaning hot water) (930m), and then continue along the eastern bank of the Budi Gandaki River to Doban, Thulo Dunga and Yara Bagar (1370m). The trail zigzags and frequently crosses the river over suspension bridges before we come to the entrance gate to Manaslu Conservation Area and Jagat (1410m) - with its distinctive flagstone village square. Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will check that the route is passable, and may suggest we take an alternative route along a much higher path on the east side of the river before descending to the old trail near Doban. We will stay at Jagat tonight.

      The trail ascends to Salleri and Sirdibas before reaching Philim. The countryside becomes little by little more desolate as the trail winds past several waterfalls until we reach a crossroad at Ekle Bhatti where the trail leads to Lokpa - a village on the trail to the Tsum Valley. We then climb above the junction of the Buri Gandaki and Shar Khola Rivers and continue on to Pewa and then Deng (1860m) where we will stay the night. Many villages here suffered extensive damage in the 2015 Nepal earthquake.

      Today we follow a trail above the Tom Khola (river) to Longa Chuta before arriving at an enchanting fir and rhododendron forest filled with birds and Langur monkeys on the north side of the Buri Gandaki River. We cross back to the other side of the river before coming to Namrung (2660m) that was a previous customs post in the days when this was a route for transporting salt from Tibet. Namrung is another village that suffered extensive damage from the 2015 earthquake, but today it has been rebuilt.

      Today we will walk past a long Mani stone wall in the village of Lho, with an amazing view of Peak 29 ahead us. We will take a shot detour to the Pungen Glacier for up-close views of the eye-catching Mt. Manaslu from the village. We will stay in Samagaun at guesthouse tonight.

      Before we head higher we need to get acclimatized for a period of at least one day. Health authorities recommend that you stay active and not just sit idle. Today we will explore the Gompa at Pugyen (4070m), a one day hike that leaves the trail between Syaula and Sama. It is also possible for us to carry on up this valley to the rough terrain of the Pugin Glacier. Another option is we trek to Birendra Tal (lake - 3450m) and then a tough climb up to Manaslu Base Camp (4900m). It is believed that to the north of Birendra Tal is Milarepaโ€™s Cave (famous Buddha) that he used as a meditation retreat.

      Today the trail heads uphill and back to the Buri Gandaki River and passes the junction of Birendra Tal and Manaslu Base Camp. The valley then widens before coming to Kermo Khadka and then continues to the white Kani Gateway that signals the entrance to Samdo (3860m). If we have time we will trek to the peak above the village for striking views of Mt. Manaslu. If we need to further acclimatize there is a 6 to 7 hour trek of 640m up to the moraine of the Fukang Glacier where you will have expansive views toward several passes used by locals to cross over into Tibet.

      This morning we head down through fields before beginning our climb to Larkya-La Pass, a trail that offers awesome views of Manaslu and the Syacha Glacier. It is possible you will see Himalayan blue sheep on the trail leading to Dharamsala (4480m). This is as high as we go today without risking possible altitude sickness. This is also the last safe refuge before reaching the pass. This leg of the trek is often subject to snowfall between mid - December to mid -March, when snow regularly blocks access through Larkya-La Pass. Samdo Lodge is usually closed in winter months. Your guide will know beforehand if the lodge is closed.

      Today we begin with a short climb to the north side of Larkya Glacier from where we have excellent views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The climb to the Larkya La (5100m) pass is at first a gradual ascent but gradually becomes steeper as we get closer to the pass. At the top of the pass we are blessed with stunning panoramic views of several mountain ranges. The descent from the pass is equally hard on the legs. Next we will come to Bhimthang where we camp the night in a tent.

      This morning we trek through the paddy fields and head to the smaller Karcher La Pass. The trail then descends through fig trees and rhododendron forests before coming to Tilje Village. We continue and then arrive at Dharapani where we will stay at a guesthouse.

      This is the last day of our Manaslu circuit trek. From here we take a shared jeep to Besisahar. At your hotel here you can sit back and reflect on the highlights of this journey and consider what you have learned and personally achieved.
