Weโ€™ll hike up to the Everest View Hotel to admire stunning views of the Himalayan vista. On our way back to Namche, weโ€™ll visit the Khumjung Monastery, which houses a yeti scalp, and tour the Hillary School. Our guide can also take you to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarters of Sagarmatha National Park, where you can learn about the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture, and the diverse plant and animal life in the Everest region. Weโ€™ll spend the night in Namche Bazaar.

This monastery, located within Sagarmatha National Park, offers panoramic views of the highest mountains on earth, including Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, and Lhotse. We aim to reach the monastery by 3 PM, hoping to witness a religious Buddhist ceremony. We will spend the night in Tengboche.

Todayโ€™s trek began with a downhill walk through lush forests filled with birch, conifers, and rhododendron trees. As we continued, stunning views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam accompanied us. The picturesque trail dipped down to Debuche, crossed the Imja River, and led us to Pangboche. Walking the upper Pangboche trails provided more pristine views of the Himalayas and the Pangboche Monastery. We moved ahead toward the Imja Valley, crossed the Lobuche River, and ultimately climbed up to Dingboche. This beautiful, windy village is adorned with chortens and prayer flags. We will spend the night in Dingboche.

Todayโ€™s trail takes us through stone-walled fields and the Imja Khola valley, leading us into glacier moraines amidst towering Himalayas. The path continues to Bibre, a yak herdsmanโ€™s place. From here, you can see the stunning Ama Dablam and Amphu Labsa mountains directly across the valley. As we proceed, we navigate icy streams before reaching Chhukung after about half an hour. After lunch, we trek towards Chhukung Ri. The climb to Chhukung Ri includes some easy scrambling near the summit. From the top, youโ€™ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labcha peaks. We then descend back to Chhukung to spend the night.

Todayโ€™s trek begins early in the morning as we aim to reach the highest point of the entire trip, the Kongma La Pass. There are two route options: one trail leads northwest from Chhukung over the Nuptse Glacier moraines, while the other involves trekking back to Bibre and then following the path above the Niyang Khola. The summit of the pass is adorned with cairns and Buddhist prayer flags. The most challenging part of todayโ€™s journey is the final descent from the pass. After ascending the moraine on the far side, the trail heads north through the Khumbu Glacier, ultimately leading us to Lobuche. Weโ€™ll spend the night in Lobuche.

Note:Trek through Kongma La is optional. If you do not want to tackle the strenuous Kongma La pass today and want to go directly to Lobuche from Chhukung, we can do that.

From Lobuche, we trek downhill on a trail alongside the Khumbu Glacier. When the path splits, weโ€™ll take the right fork. This route offers a better view of the looming Awi Peak. As we proceed, weโ€™ll pass a stupa and tombstones visible in the distance. After some time, the trail begins to ascend, bringing us near Chola Tsho Lake. Continuing further, weโ€™ll pass a smaller lake before crossing the Chola Khola on a bridge. Finally, we reach Dzongla, where we will stay overnight.

Day 10: Trek To Gokyo (4800M/15,580 Ft) Via Cho La Pass (5368M/17,611 Ft): 7 - 8 Hours Trek

As we ascend to higher altitudes, Cho La Lake starts to come into view, with Ama Dablam towering majestically to the south and Cholatse rising to the west. The climb up the pass is challenging; the steep incline is compounded by boulders that require some scrambling. The final stretch to Cho La can be particularly tricky as the trail winds around a crevasse. At the summit, marked by prayer flags and cairns, the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks are truly breathtaking.

Descending to Thangnak is long but manageable. Our path takes us along the edge of the Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal. On the far side of the glacier, we encounter the second Gokyo Lake in the series of six lakes, followed closely by the third Gokyo Lake. Nearby, the Gokyo Village offers a welcoming place to spend the night.

Todayโ€™s trek begins early to cover a long day ahead. We start by walking alongside Dudh Pokhari (lake) for about two hours before descending towards the Renjo La Pass. Along the way, we are treated to stunning views of the Himalayan and Rolwaling ranges. The panorama from Renjo La Pass is reminiscent of the views from Gokyo Ri, with the third Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Village nestled below the gray expanse of the Ngozumpa Glacier. From the pass, we also get impressive views of Mt. Everest.

Continuing from the pass, the trail descends via a stone staircase and traverses loose scree to reach the south bank of Angladumba Tsho Lake. The presence of ice on the trail can make the descent a bit treacherous. We will also pass by Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake. The trail then winds down a narrow valley filled with giant boulders to reach Lumde, where there is a support lodge that is often closed. From Lumde, we walk for nearly an hour to Marlung, located on the east bank of the Bhote Koshi River, where we will spend the night.
