Itinerary of your trip Ecuador Adventure: Quito’S Must-See Spots And Nearby Gems

  • Day 1 Arrival In Quito & City Tour
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Arrival In Quito & City Tour

Take a glimpse out of the window while approaching Quito Airport and first look at the beautiful Andean scenery surrounding Ecuador’s capital. Upon arrival, your driver will welcome you and escort you to your hotel in the city center.

You will explore Quito’s historic city center today. Quito lies at an altitude of 9350 ft/2850 m and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. Stroll through narrow streets and over big plazas, and visit some of the most important churches, such as La Compañía (its interior is covered in gold), a great example of the „Baroque School of Quito“. Walk down „La Ronda“, one of the oldest streets of Quito, or head to Panecillo Hill for spectacular 360° views.

  • Day 2 Otavalo Market, Peguche Artisans & Cooking Class
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Otavalo Market, Peguche Artisans & Cooking Class

Leave the city today and head northwards into the culturally diverse Imbabura province. Your first stop will be the colorful market of Otavalo, one of the biggest and most famous ones in South America. Dive into the busy market atmosphere, stroll through the narrow passageways, and bargain for traditional clothing, handmade jewelry, souvenirs, and much more.

Next, pay a visit to the small indigenous town of Peguche, close to Otavalo. You can visit local families and their workshops where they manually produce authentic clothing made with alpaca and lama wool, accessories, and musical instruments. You will gain a great insight into their art, their culture, and their daily lives.

To top off this excursion, participate in a traditional, hands-on cooking class to savor the typical Andean flavors.

In the late afternoon, you return to Quito.

  • Day 3 Cotopaxi National Park & Horseback Riding
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Cotopaxi National Park & Horseback Riding

In Cotopaxi National Park see its eponymous active volcano which has a more than 19,347 foot (5,897 m) symmetrical snow-capped peak—the second-highest summit in Ecuador. Be sure to bring plenty of layers to prepare for a change in weather and altitude as you explore the park and see birds, wild horses, a mix of Andean plants and wildlife amidst rugged scenery—and perhaps even a condor. At Limpiopungo Lagoon, your guide will point out some of the species native to the area.

On your visit to Cotopaxi National Park, you will also get to experience the vast Andean highlands on horseback! After familiarizing yourself with your horse and learning the riding techniques, you’ll embark on a 2-hour ride along dirt roads and through wild páramo landscapes.

  • Day 4 Massage & Spa Time At Papallacta Hot Springs
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Papallacta is known for its great spa services and eco-friendly practices, giving it a personal touch. The hot springs have healing properties and offer indulgent treatments like Chocolate body wraps and Wine Therapy. Besides the physical benefits, the baths help you relax, improve your well-being, and connect with nature.
