  • Day 1 Dublin To Kinsale

      Dublin To Kinsale

      We leave Dublin behind and make our way to our first destination, Rock of Cashel, dubbed as the largest collection of medieval buildings left in Ireland this is sure to put you in the right mood for what we have in store. Then itโ€™s off for a bit of kissing and to the famous Blarney Stone. Legend has it that whoever kisses it, gets the gift of the gab, and your fellow bus buddies will be sure to tell you if it works! Follow us as we head to the fishing village of Kinsale, a gourmetโ€™s utopia. Head to The Spaniard, an olde world inn perched high above Kinsale, serving up Spanish Ruby Ports and West Cork black pudding or if itโ€™s all fish you want, how about Fishy, Fishy? Meander the picturesque streets and find silversmiths, galleries and antique shops before settling in for the evening at The Armada bar or The Silent Banjo, which unlike the name suggests, is jumping with music and โ€˜jammersโ€™ (packed) with locals Known as one of the best food hubs in Ireland. Meet up with our friend Barry for a guided historical amble through the narrow streets of Kinsale before grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many renowned restaurants on the water.

  • Day 2 Kinsale To Killarney National Park

      Kinsale To Killarney National Park

      Itโ€™s bye-bye Kinsale and hello to some of the sights of the Ring of Kerry; Stop off in Kenmare, a village full of treacle scones, Guinness breads, quirky shops and curiosities. Have your phones fully charged to take photos of Mollโ€™s Gap, Torc waterfall and Ross castle in Killarney National Park. Built in the 15th century, this stronghold is said to have a resident ghost, that of Oโ€™Donoghue Ross, the chieftain who came to an untimely end, when he allegedly fell out of one of its windows! 

      The rest of the day belongs to Dingle, home to Inch is a strand with miles of beaches. 

      Tรณg go bรณg รฉ (take it easy) and wander round its craft shops selling Irish flutes and seaweed cheeses. As evening draws in, take a trip to hardware store, Foxy Johnโ€™s. But donโ€™t be alarmed, the only DIY youโ€™ll be doing is ordering a drink from its fully stocked bar. And did we tell you about the Leather Shop, Dick Macโ€™s? It comes with a pub, a gang of lively locals and a charismatic bartenders.

      Start your day with a kayak around Dingle Bay and explore the nearby caves too. If you havenโ€™t got sea legs, stay on terra firma with a hike up Mount Brandon, where panoramic views of the bay and Castlegregory, will be your reward. 

      Heading for the Slea Head Drive, weโ€™ll go on a journey through Irish-speaking villages, and famous Hollywood film locations. Then itโ€™s back for another night in Dingle and a spot of DIY in the local hardware store, Foxy Johns (wink, wink).

  • Day 4 Sheepdog Demonstration And The Mighty Cliffs Of Moher

      Sheepdog Demonstration And The Mighty Cliffs Of Moher

      We leave Dingle and travel north, taking in spectacular views of The Connor Pass and Castlegregory along the way. Prepare to be left amazed at a traditional sheepdog demonstration with our friends at West Kerry Sheepdog. The skill of the farmer and his furry friend will leave you flabbergasted. Next, we take the short ferry ride to County Clare, home of the world-famous Cliffs of Moher and take in the Burren National Park. The cliffs in their wonder, need to be seen to be appreciated and a guided hike with the roaring Wild Atlantic provides the perfect soundtrack.

      We finish the day in one of Irelandโ€™s most celebrated and lively small towns, Doolin. Break out your dancing shoes as youโ€™ll be sure to do a bit of toe-tapping in the home of traditional Irish music. 

  • Day 5 The Burren National Park And Bohemian Galway

      The Burren National Park And Bohemian Galway

      Then itโ€™s Southwest to The Burren, 125 square miles of limestone rock and The Burren Centre where youโ€™ll see dolmens and megalithic tombs, some older than the Egyptian pyramids.  Weโ€™ll take in a portal tomb at Poulnabrone, locally referred to as โ€˜Hole of the Sorrowsโ€™, the oldest megalithic burial site in Ireland, dating back to 3000BC. Then weโ€™re off to Galway, the City of the Tribes and the home of the Claddagh Ring to chase down the ceol agus craic, (music and fun), street performers, artists, buskers and the last of the Bohemians. Meet one of our local friends for a Walkinโ€™ Talkinโ€™ Tastinโ€™ tour of Galway! Have them point out all their favourite spots while trying traditional Irish cuisine, tasting locally distilled gin and learning about the rich history of Galway. 

      Spend free time this afternoon trying on Claddagh rings and Galway shawls, pass through The Spanish Arch and hear tales of Gaelic bards and visit Galwayโ€™s ancient fishing village. These tiny streets are home to many a great restaurant and lively pub. 

  • Day 6 Mystical Aran Islands And Westport

      Mystical Aran Islands And Westport

      We leave Galway and drive west to Rossaveal Pier along the coast road. From Rossaveal, we will sail across Galway Bay to the Aran Islands. Our destination is the rugged Inishmore which is the largest of the three Aran Islands.


      We will explore the island by cycling through its meandering roads. You can also choose a jaunting cart (Horse and Buggy) to bring you along the way. This is an optional added cost that we will be happy to arrange for you.


      We will no doubt meet many locals and pick up a few words in โ€œGaelicโ€ along the way. Our tour of the island will take us to the stone fort of Dรบn Aengus, which lies 100m over the ocean, before making our way back to the mainland.


      We then leave Rossaveal for Irelandโ€™s favourite town โ€“ Westport taking in the breathtaking views of Connemara National Park along our route. Itโ€™s then time to ease into an unforgettable night in County Mayo. Unwind in Westport with some local craft beers and mouthwatering food. And no trip to Westport is complete without a visit to Matt Molloyโ€™s bar where you can enjoy a traditional Irish music session and some good old โ€˜Craic โ€“ funโ€™.


      Note: The Aran Islands ferry crossings are weather permitting. If it is unsafe to travel we will provide wonderful alternative plans for the group!

      Connemara National Park To The Hills Of Donegal

      We love showing off Westport town and its gorgeous little shops bursting with nick-nacks, antiques and Irish crafts. This could be the perfect opportunity to do some retail therapy on tour or our friends in Westport will while away the morning with you on a walking tour of the town.


      Up north we go travelling through County Sligo and making a wonderful loop of Mullaghmore, taking in Cassiebawn Castle โ€“ owned by Lord Mountbatten when he was tragically killed. Here you will begin your education on Northern Irish history and get a great insight into the contrast between the north and south of Ireland.


      You are in for a treat. Before settling into the 5-star Lough Eske Castle Hotel and enjoying this luxury experience we will stretch our legs at Glencarโ€™s magnificent waterfall. Donegalโ€™s rugged wild landscape will take your breath away as will the charming locals! Youโ€™ll have to retune your ears to understand their sing-song lilt!


      Tonight is all about treating yourself on the grounds of the castle and embracing your inner King/Queen at the home of the powerful Oโ€™Donnell Clan from the 14th Century.

      Embark on a wonderful day where we drive over the Glengesh Pass and the Assaranca Waterfall. Discover remote stunning beaches, hidden caves and amazing views all around. Continue your exploration of the gorgeous hills of Donegal Hill at the newly established Ardara Distillery. Learn about the tradition of whiskey and even have a taste of what Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw described as โ€œliquid sunshineโ€.

      Our next stop is Derry. Northern Irelandโ€™s second-largest city, which is steeped in rich Irish history. We provide a walking tour of the city, helping visitors to learn about the Troubles. Derry is also here where we will spend the evening. Enjoy the amazing restaurants Derry has on offer.

  • Day 9 Giantโ€™S Causeway And Belfast City

      Giantโ€™S Causeway And Belfast City

      Kick off your day with one of the many โ€™Game of Thronesโ€™ locations, the Dark Hedges, Dunluce Castle, and Ballintoy Harbour.  Then itโ€™s off to the Giantโ€™s Causeway, a natural world heritage site, formed by a volcanic eruption, 60 million years ago. Learn about the legend that was the burly giant, Fionn MacCool.

      You head to your last night on tour (sad) in Belfast City. Thereโ€™s an optional but must-see โ€˜Black Cabโ€™ Tour; an intimate way to see this beautiful city, once bomb-ravaged during the โ€˜Troublesโ€™. Hear first-hand accounts of the conflict as you navigate former political hotspots and murals. If youโ€™d rather do your own thing, go rogue and check out the busy shops, The Ulster Museum or the Parliament Buildings at Stormont.

  • Day 10 The Titanic Museum And The Ancient Newgrange

      Cue drum roll, as itโ€™s full tilt ahead for the Titanic experience at Titanic Belfast.

      It was voted the worlds leading Tourist Attraction 2016 for a reason. You may descend the famous staircase, peruse a first-class menu and explore the shipyards in this splendid interactive experience, set in the birth-place of this ill-fated vessel. From Belfast we head to Newgrange, a monumental passage tomb, where if its walls could talk, theyโ€™d tell you stories older than the Egyptian pyramids.

      As our guides take you back to The Capital, theyโ€™ll give you tips and recommendations if you plan to stay on in Dublin. Goodbyes will have to be said but itโ€™s slรกn go fรณill, (see you soon), from all of us at Overland Tours.
